Punter signed

The Patriots just announced the signing of punter Todd Sauerbrun. More to come after Bill Belichick's press conference, which is underway.

Mike Reiss: "Did you have to check out some of the off-field stuff and was that a concern at all?"

BB: "Well, it was a league issue. So, you'll have to talk to the league about it. All that stuff is done on a confidentiality basis. Even if I knew anything I wouldn't say anything about it. But we're not really privy to that type of confidential information. I'd say talk to the league about it."

BB: "Yes, in Chicago. A little in Carolina, too."

Can't say that I'm all that surprised, it isn't the first time BB has taken on a 'problem-child'. If his (steroid) problems are now behind him, all I care about is whether or not he can punt.

I would guess yes, since we've got a need for one. That may have had something to do with the signing, but I can't say that I know whether or not any of the available guys hold or not.

Awesome signing. He will be the best P pats have had in years, since Camarillo probably. Could care less about his baggage. He's an f'ing punter. I'm pretty sure the Pats clubhouse won't let him get out of line. Plus, sitting on the ww for 12 weeks after being cut by Broncos prob. gave him a well-deserved taste of humility.

And its not like the guy is going to disrupt any crazy-good chemistry on this team. In fact, maybe an a-hole punter is just what this team needs to gel.
