Bruschi Is Milking It For All It's Worth

Has ESPN ever met a story they don't beat into the ground. Only WEEI can out do them with beating a dead horse of a sports controversy.

Ocho takes the high road:
--------------------

ESPNForsberg Chris Forsberg
With media pursuing him to his locker, Chad Ochocinco wheels around, smiles and says, "Y'all know I'm not talking
-------------------

Good for Ocho - - he is NOT going to create a disruption for the Patriots - - no matter how hard Mr. Patriot is (now repeatedly) trying to do just that.

Uh, I think that's the intended/expected result by all involved.

It amazes me how quickly "fans" turn on a true, long-tenured, the heart and soul, and the long-time captain of the New England Patriots - Tedy Bruschi...but are quick to defend Ochocino who clearly is having issues grasping the offense.

I could not care less if Chad tweets, drives a puke prius and wears his camo shorts all winter....I just want him to learn the system. Everyone was sooooo excited to have the social media king aboard. Big whoop! Learn the system. Tedy is not the only one to Chad's not getting it. Yes, Rodney said it. Fauria has said it. Damien Woody has said it. Troy Brown has alluded to it. I think these guys know a little bit more than any of us.

He's an ESPN analyst. What are we suppose to do?

Look on the flipside. Did it ever occur to you that you might just be the useful idiot ESPN targeted by having their analyst elevated to god like status based on misplaced loyalty?

All of those players have one thing in common. NONE OF THEM ARE PART OF THIS CURRENT PATRIOT TEAM. They have their opinions. Good for them. I don't care what they have to say. I care about the players in the locker room and I want them to succeed.. Teddy and others represent the past...not the present...but I still love them. I think that's why some people have a problem with what he said. It doesn't bother me either way. It's a free country. Those guys can say what they want, but I don't have to listen.

I am not turning on Bruschi. He is still my favorite Patriot ever. I just think he is overblowing this issue. It is an ESPN trait to continue to push a story that is controversial. I really don't blame Tedy for that.

Bruschi chose to go to ESPN knowing full well what they do.

I admire and appreciate Tedy Bruschi the player and the person.

Tedy Bruschi "the analyst" - - that's another story.

He didn't go into this blindly. He knows who is paying his checks these days - and that this tweet was, in reality, a non-story. I thought he was above this.

It's one thing to state one's opinion - - no problem, if he was against the tweet - - but he and his emplyer are now shilling the story 72 hours later. HE is the one who should shut up now.

Ochocinco was followed by a much larger group of media than usual in the lockerroom today - - and turned around, smiled and said "Y'all know I'm not talking".

Bruschi is the one causing disruption - - and getting paid to do so. Maybe he'll do a 30 minute special on it this weekend! It depends on what the marketing department decides.

It is what it is.

Tedy made his initial remarks on WEEI, not ESPN, so I don't think he can be accused of "milking it" by following it up at his place of employment. I think he's right on about the whole thing. His perspective on "The Patriot Way" gives insight to what makes this team special, which is being held to a higher standard as a team player.

Tedy knows what ESPN does. He knowingly works there. You yourself wrote that he is overblowing the issue. It's not like he is some innocent bystander. One has to take responsibility for one's (now repeated) actions.

It's his right to state his opinion as much as he wants. However, when the repetition is done for his corporate boss' "ratings" reasons is when I start looking at Mr. Patriot with a more jaundiced eye.

He was a member of the New England Patriots. He isn't anymore. He is an ESPN employee.

Nothing wrong with that. Just recognize it.

And what does that have to do with this nontroversy being created out of a totally innocuous tweet?

Bruschi is 100% right, unfortunately. It doesn't matter if he's working for Al Queda now, he's speaking the truth.

I have always been a huge Bruschi fan, but these comments are so puzzling. Ochocinco's tweet was harmless in my opinion. No need for this kind of reaction from Bruschi.....

I don't consider myself an idiot....but I am starting to think....ah, nevermind.

Anyway, to answer your question. No. I was never a fan of the Ocho signing. Had zero expectations for his fitting in. Been lamenting the signing since it happened. ESPN should be paying me for being ahead of the curve.

Unlike Tedy, however, I couldn't care less about the tweeting....I am just really concerned, yet not surprised, that he's slow to "get it." So, yah, stop being in awe and go study some film.

to me, this whole thing is coming across as some kind of wag the dog charade........

And I think Belichick and Brady know a little bit more than they do. As long as Coach and his QB say 85 is working to learn the system and doing what's asked of him, that's fine with me.

Bruschi's just doing his job, just like he did his job when he was here. No more no less. I'm sure the suits at HSPN are happy with the controversy, so he's making his new bosses as happy as he made his old bosses. Personally, I think he over-reacted, but I'm not throwing "Mr. Patriot" under the bus because I disagree with him on one thing.

As for Ochocinco. I'll stand by what I said above. As long as the two most important people are happy with what he's up to with the team, that's fine with me. I wasn't among those who went into a state of delirious joy when I heard he was joining the team; I've never much liked him. Once BB and TB are done with him, I'm done with him.

This is one of those things like when your brother gets into a fist fight with someone and they are in the wrong... You know they are wrong, but it doesnt matter. You have their back anyway.

When it comes down to it... Bruschi is family... Chad Johnson is just another guy.

Dont get me wrong, i hope Chad works out for us. But as of right now, im with 54. I wish he didnt pile on so much, but whatever.
