I think they realized that the Dolphins D was hanging by a thread, hence the constant harping that their D needed to make a big play if they were going to win that game. This was also in the context of Miami going 1-7 at home last year.

Pimping Bush early is unsurprising as he's one of the league's 'stars'. They changed their tune a bit later when Miami was forced to throw on 4th and goal at the 1.

And they were pretty complimentary of the Brady hurry up when the Fins weren't even able to get lined up again before getting gashed.

I like Gruden a lot more on tv than as a coach and Jaws is one of the best.

The one problem I had was Gruden talking about how great it was to have all of the celebrities there and Miami getting back to their 'glory days'.

I would have brought a taser to the game just for Wade, Antony, and the Fresh Prince. What the hell do celebrities have to do with football. I still can't think about last year's awesome SB without picturing Cameron Dog-azz feeding popcorn to A-Fraud.

is it just me or did it seem like they were rooting for mia? Or maybe just wanted a close game.

also, what was with the comment about the pats taking advantage of the east coast and being fresh (don't remember exact words) . Both teams are from east coast and the pats travelled, not the phins. Either really dumb comment or me really dumb.

on the positive, I liked the FedEx a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a auto repair commercial

Whaaaa??? The broadcast was a 3 hour Ode to Tom Brady. Seriously, it was sickening even for me the level of ball massaging that went on. I can't imagine how annoying it was for the rest of the country.

I don't like the commentary in games today, instead of letting the game Speak for Itself they constantly Talk. This goes especially for any time there are Three people in the both. I turn down the sound in between plays now.

It was awesome when Jaworski slipped and said that bad word.

Then later in the game tried to apologize for it and everyone was quiet lol

Is that really a new development? Did Howard Cosell and Don Meredith just shut up and let the game speak for itself? :)

At least it's actually football guys talking on ESPN's crew now. The Dennis Miller and Tony Kornheiser eras were dark days indeed.

I had no problem with them. I love Gruden. Maybe when BB retires (in 10 years) he'll come back and coach the Pats......

I cannot stand most football play by play and color combinations. Even Phil Simms is starting to bother me and I used to think he was pretty good. However how long can people do those jobs and keep it new and different? Most of the time I turn the sound down, on the idiot stuff and just watch the play. I, like many here, know enough about the game to enjoy it without the commentary, which I find most of time simply jumps in favor of whomever is winning at X point in time. That's not interesting or informative.

Isn't that the way it is when you go to any game in any pro sport today? The games aren't enough anymore. You have to have Fergie and Hank Williams Jr., both screeching away, and t-shirt cannons and put every fans' mug on the scoreboard at least once per game.

The best part was how the announcers kept talking up Reggie Bush and how well he was playing. While it was apparent to anyone with a brain that he was not doing anything great out there.

Agreed. I used to go to a lot of AHL hockey games, and it pissed me off. Every single pause had to be occupied by loud crappy music etc. I'm watching hockey, I don't want to hear YMCA.
That said, I thought the guys did a good job on onday night. I like Gruden.

i didnt get an anti-Pats vibe at all. if anything, i thought Gruden was giving TFB a verbal BJ.

He gave him like 7 "THIS GUY!"'s.

I don't really care what they have to say. If they aren't Simms and Nantz they get auto-tuned-out anyway.

I just wish these guys would play more instant replays. They do a terrible job with those imo.

I loved when Jaworski said "**** he's got to throw that" or something like that... Jaws then goes silent for about a quarter, comes back on and says something like "I have to apologize, I said something inappropriate and I want to apologize"... the other guys go... "... ok ..." then the awkward silence and no more Jaws the rest of the 4th quarter.

Then again, we could be stuck with the Dennis Miller days again, now THAT was a downright travesty to the game of football.

Actually, I thought the MNF group of Michaels,Fouts, and Miller was the best. Nobody was worse than kornheiser though. Now that guy was a joke.

If you have a 5.1 receiver, you can turn the center channel all the way down and turn the L/R/SR/SL channels all the way up

This essentially eliminates the announcers (who are only piped through the C channel) and keeps the crowd, referee, and stadium announcer at full volume.

It feels much more like you're at the stadium.

I usually do this for any game I'm focusing on. I'll leave the announcers on for games where I'm not completely paying attention.

Breaking News: E!SPN doesn't like the Patriots!

JG is awesom. IMO the mnf crew is the best there is. I have always liked Jaws and MT and adding JG makes them great.

Umm BB is NEVAH gonna retire! I think Gruden would make a real good QB coach though. But he probably wouldn't unretire for less than an OC position. Hmmmm.

I like Gruden and Jaws in general, they know their stuff. I don't even know the 3rd guy in the booth. They probably don't need that guy but its in his contract and he gets paid so he hangs out too. Honestly the game is fun enough by itself that it doesn't need chatter. But hey that's how the game is presented.

Nick Saban, in his brief tenure as coach, put in a practice bubble, and the Fins spend a lot of time in that bubble. Now, like most people these days in Florida, the Dolphins players spend their lives in air conditioning. So the three plus hours in the heat blows them away. Result is Miami has lost the home field advantage. So say the stats. Colummnists in Miaimi are calling for the demolition of the bubble.
As for the NE being fresher comment, even with AC, anyone who lives in Florida for any length of time gets to feeling ragged out by the relentless heat, which lasts for 8-9 months of the year. NE players, coming down from a NE summer, may well have been fresher.
