I totally understood and agreed with the trade of Seymour. Thought the same about Branch. In hindsight, I'm now against both trades. The money is tehre for these guys. Granted, I would not be in favor of Raider money to Seymour, but Wilfork +? I think he would have signed.

I also think they would have gotten Solder regardless, but it may have cost them a Dowling + Vereen.

Looking back, 3 or 4 years of Branch >>> 3 or 4 years of Meriweather.
3 years of Seymour >>> Dowling (maybe not, this remains to be seen). I focus on Dowling instead of Solder because the Patriots traded away future picks.

I also think we would have won at least 1 or 2 more SB by now if we kept Branch and Seymour around. Instead of letting them go.

As Fitzy would say: Patriot Porn!

You can maybe make an argument for Seymour, although you have to wonder if he wouldn't have been part of the Afailus Thomas malcontent crew.

Branch and his idiot agent idiotically talked his way out of town à la Moss. There really wasn't much the Pats could do.

Belichik miked up assistance needed

Anyone know where I could watch this on the internetz other than the NFL
network (which I don't have)?

Re: Belichik miked up assistance needed

I don't know but I did see this quote on an article from bleacherreport

Bill Belichick: How Well Does New Show Tell Us What's Behind the Hoodie? | Bleacher Report

"At one point during a Patriots-Ravens game, Baltimore receiver Derrick Mason approaches the New England sideline and says something to Belichick, to which Belichick replies, “Why don’t we talk after the game, alright? Just shut the f–k up.”

:rocker:

What to do tonight?

At 9PM Lifetime is having that Love series marathon that Muffy has SO been waiting for and over on Hallmark an absorbing movie where a young woman faces the travails of cold sholder rejection at the Polo Club filmed locally at Myopia Hunt club. The DVR will be recording both so that Muffy does not have to watch all those plebian commercials. Perhaps Patsfans posters could be so kind as to type really fast and post a live transcript blog of that Belachuck thingie on this thread?

In any case we'll be at our red Fidelity box seats Sunday, drinking our chablis well in advance as that nice young new quarterperson has requested. Ta ta!

I see many fans with a new found respect for Belichick after tonight's documentary

There of course will be the usual haters of the best coach in the game regardless of what they see and learn, but I think some fans from other teams may learn more about the guy they loathe and may actually respect the man after the 2 part series on the NFLN ends next week

They will see the coach that is not behind the mike avoiding idiotic media questions and the one they accused of cheating.

What they will see is a man who has dedicated his life to football and family and not necessarily in that order.

They will see a man who enjoys time away doing things away from the game that no one expects him to do...they will see a man who loves his family and spends a lot of time with his sons and his girlfriend

They will see a guy with a huge sense of humor and a man who will lay down the hammer on the team when things aren't going to plan

They will see the human side of Belichick and not that stuffed shirt behind the mike we have all come to love as Pats fans :)

They will realize that when the documentary is over that they never really knew the man behind the hoodie on the sidelines..they will come to realize Bill Belichick is not Just a football coach but behind the scenes is a really great human being.

I know it won't change every opposing fan's opinion of BB, but if just a few of the thousands of viewers could say "Hmmmm,he's not such a bad guy" after viewing this series then maybe it will smarten them up.

Or they won't see it because NFL Network isn't even on every cable provider yet!

Maybe I'm bitter because we just got it and they still haven't given us the HD version of the channel. :)

Re: I see many fans with a new found respect for Belichick after tonight's documentar

Yah Brighthouse still refuses to carry NFLN. Fortunately I'm at home tonight with Comcrap & it's on!

Re: I see many fans with a new found respect for Belichick after tonight's documentar

Any cable company that refuses to not have NFLN should be shut down....seriously

Re: I see many fans with a new found respect for Belichick after tonight's documentar

What time does it air tonight? I might have to set it for the DVR because It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia kicks off it's new season tonight and that always takes presendence.

I hope you're right, but I'm skeptical. I think the millions who hate him for what I believe are unjustified reasons probably won't watch. Those in the middle might watch and will change their opinions but won't verbalize them. Those of us who really like Bill will likely feel as though our opinions have been validated. But to expect a radical change in the way non-Pats fans nation-wide view Bill is, I believe, wishful thinking. But, once again, I hope I'm wrong.

We all know Bill could care less whether he is loved outside of the team and family, but I am hoping to see just even a fragment less hatred throughout the land,it would be nice.

Same here. I just got, but no HD. Disappointing. Anyone else just subscribe with Charter to Red Zone and not have it work last Sunday?

I agree. I think we win the SuperBowl that the Colts ended up winning against the Bears (2006)

We almost won that divisional game vs. The Colts and Brady was throwing to Reche Caldwell, Chad BUST Jackson, and something Gabriel.

I remember a lot of dropped passes that game. If Brady had Deion Branch that year, we go to the SB and win it.

The Seymour thing didnt hurt as much... but you never know. Our Run D got GASHED and BULLIED that year against BMore in the playoffs. Our Defense wouldve been alot stronger with Seymour. That was the year of the Adalius Thomas debacle and a total lack of leadership in the locker room. I don't think that stuff wouldve happened if Seymour were around.

Don't kid yourself. If he didn't care, he wouldn't have allowed this filming to happen. This is all about his legacy.

I agree that he cares about his legacy and that his legacy is a major driver for his doing this.

I also think he knows that his reputation as the best coach in the league has a present benefit for him when it comes to recruiting free agent players. If he can an enhance that reputation as the guy he will do so.
