...but Bodden and Wright are not at practice. I'm not all that concerned about Bodden. He spoke to reporters in the locker room.
I am a little concerned about Wright. I hope his situation is not concussion related. :(

5 stars for the bearer of such good news - Herr Vollmer back in the mix!

A few reporters noticed Wright being withdrawn early in the Miami game (after the first series, I think) - they seeemd to read significance into the fact that he didn't have his helmet on.

It 'feels' like a concussion issue - but thats a pure guess based on the fact that nothing much actually seemed to happen to him to knock him out of the game.

Vollmer back at practice.

This just got interesting.

Would I bench Solder after his performance, no?

Maybe a rotation of the 3 will keep everyone fresh and get Vollmer back to full pace slowly.

Seems like a terrible idea to rotate tackles, the position requires consistency.

I think a healthy Vollmer is a lock at RT. The question may arise at LT...Solder or Light?

Agreed. We go back to the plan before Vollmer's injury. Light and Vollmer in, Solder ready to go at either position in case of injury. No reason to disrupt that after one solid game from the rookie.

Assuming Vollmer returns with no complications of course.

What about playing the match-ups? Speed rushers that seem to always give Light trouble now = Solder. Big guys that might be too strong for the kid = Light.

I'm talking on a game to game basis not subbing out in game.

about time;

Willkommen Herr Vollmer ...

The more big bodies blocking for Brady the better. It feels good to not worry about the offensive line.

Have to agree with the hooded one on this one.

Vollmer is your starting right tackle.

Which then brings up the same question, are you ready to hand the LT job to a rookie? We now have one game worth of Solder to help determine this.

I would still lean towards not yet. Lets get him a few reps at LT in the next game (more to give Light a breather but also for experience). This will let Solder get more experience without overexposing him.

I would not make the switch until there is a reason to make the switch. Either injury or performance reasons.

Dolphins never let one of there DT play outside for some reason.Solder issue is with bigger stronger rushers. i never understood why they never moved a 3-4 end on him.

if i see solder in there i will immediately swap by DE/DT or OLB/DT and go after him.

game i can make that adjustment in a down

I could see them doing what they were doing with Vollmer last year, when he'd sub in for both sides during the game, in order to gain experience, without it being a straight rotation system.

Shame having a talent like Solder DNP. Can't really DNP Light though at $6 million per either.

Why not do what BB is doing with the DL, rotate in talented OL players smart enough to deal with the different alignments? A fresh OL to keep the enemy D sucking wind.

I'd like to see a formation like this at times. Solder at TE on the left side next to Light. Gronk as the TE on the right. 2 Wr's. And, just run the ball down their throats. As the safeties cheat up you can just hit Gronk on a seam pattern over the safety coming up. Or, you have your wr's in one on one situations. This might actually be a good formation to get Ochocinco into the mix. Not going to be very complicated. Smash mouth. Followed by play actions. He's just going to have to beat his guy one on one.

It's not complicated; there aren't a lot of 300 pounders who can pass rush from the an end spot. Even if you push Solder back a lot you're not getting to the QB fast enough.

In addition to being our current RT, Vollmer has experience at LT and did well there.
Solder did pretty darn well at RT vs. Miami.
And Light is still a good to very good LT as well.

Why not Line them up like this:

Vollmer (LT) Mankins (LG) Connelly (C) Waters (RG) Solder (RT)

If Solder gets hurt or starts to suck, slide over Vollmer to RT, put Light in at LT. If Vollmer needs time to ease back in because of his back, use him for a half, use Light for a half (at LT). This also keeps Light fresher throughout the season. If Vollmer gets hurt again, Light plays LT.

Are we really going down the "Bench Light" road again?
