The Oakland Raiders late Thursday denied an NFL Network report that said the team plans to fire coach Art Shell after the current season concludes.

Not only did the franchise deny the story, they issued a statement attacking NFL Network television reporter Adam Schefter, formerly a Denver Post sportswriter.

"Adam Schefter has always been a false rumor monger with respect to the Raiders and anti-Raider based upon his relationship with Denver and Mike Shanahan," the statement read.

"No decisions have been made relative to the 2007 Oakland Raiders nor will they be made for some time. Adam Schefter could not have gotten his information from a reliable source because there is only one reliable source and he doesn't trust Adam," the statement concluded.

i always thought schefter was quite overrated..like he kept saying javon walker was in boston for a physical when he never made the trip..

sure schefter responded to the raiders statement that they never denied not firing the coach.....these media guys go overboard in trying to be the first to break the news...

Schefter is infinitely better at his job than Shell could ever be at his. Ditto for their owner, Emporer Palpatine. Both are LOUSY.
