Good News.....

I got this off of Rotoworld - I do not have access to Twitter from work.
They got this from Breer's twitter account.

Patriots C Dan Koppen is expected to miss 6-10 weeks with the fractured ankle suffered in Monday night's game.
Koppen has a chance to return at mid-season, so injured reserve isn't an option at this point. NFL Network's Albert Breer calls the injury a "small crack, bad sprain in the ankle," with minor surgery likely. Koppen was a top run blocker in 2010, but the downgrade to Dan Connolly isn't as severe in pass protection.

good chance he might be ready by the giants or jets met life game... that hurts now, but good news for the future...

Nothing but best wishes for him. Hope he recovers very well. Maybe Welker will share some of his special tea leaves :D

Good News,Hope for a Good recovery and read to roll for later in the season

That's good news IMO

If he comes back full strength, he'll be a little more rested up for the playoffs too. Just hope we don't suffer too many in the win column till then.

Wow, much better news than I was expecting. Pessimism pays off again! Get well Dan!

That's great news.... I was actually worried we lost him for the rest of year.

Really good news, Koppen has been a really good player week in and week out his entire career and having him back for the play-off run would be great.

more of a reason to LET HIM GO then RE-SIGN HIMwhen he is healed. It is common sense folks. I hope BB ACTS on this and does NOT waste a roster spot for 8 plus weeks on an injured dude.

huh? No way do you release koppen. who says if he's released he's going re-sign with the patriots? i'd be offended i were him if the patriots did that to me.

huh? so you are going to release the guy who is the QB of the offensive line, the dude who knows and makes all the protection calls in the patriots scheme? you know, the patriots line scheme that is ranked near the top of the league? No way do you release koppen, especially since (knock on wood) the OL may sustain more injuries in the second half of the season.

Did you not see the RE-SIGN him tidbit?

right now in time he is a wasted spot. Cut him and let him know we will pick him right back up when it is time.

There is so much wrong with this statement, I keep trying to find the sarcasm.

1) Why piss him off? Nobody likes being released...even with a promise to re-sign at an unspecified later date.

2) If I'm the Fins, I sign him immediately to a multi-year deal and move Pouncey to guard. If the Fins don't do it, I'm sure the Eagles would love to have him. Why take a chance on returning to the Pats when he can have a sure thing with another team...and promising him future money without having him under contract is a salary cap violation

3) Once he is released, he can't rehab with the Pats. And that situation worked soooooooooo well for Manning, didn't it?

4) The NFL gives each team 7 roster spots for injured dudes, developmental types and guys otherwise not ready to play.

Good one the cut and re-sign him post set a ******ation record.

Apologies to my fellow ******s at Patsfans.

If he by some small chance he comes to this Board, I hope Dan knows how much we fans appreciate all he's done for the team and, by extension, for us.

Best wishes for a full recovery!

Not to mention if you release an injured player the Pats would be on the hook for an injury settlement... they would have to pay at least 8-10 weeks of his salary even if they released him tomorrow
