From Rotoworld:

Dolphins released CB Benny Sapp.

Sapp is the scapegoat for Tom Brady's 517-yard performance after taking a stiff-arm from Wes Welker on the late-game 99-yard touchdown play. To be fair, Sapp also made a savvy play jumping the route that led to Brady's lone interception. The Dolphins will apparently look for an upgrade

And 28 still has a job????????????? This is a travesty! Sapp made the one defensive play of the night while Nolan Carroll got abused constantly. I mean Deion put him over his knee and punished him and he still has a job?

Sign Sapp! No justice no peace!

No wonder nobody in Miami wants to play the Patriots......
Last year it was the Dolphinms ST coach that got the boot...Now Sapp :p

Knee jerk much Miami? Coach the guy. Has BB ever done something like this before? I can't recall.

Last year the Pats got the Miami ST Coach fired. This year they got one of their CB's fired. It doesn't get much better than that.

Nolan Carroll was considerably worse than Benny Sapp from what I saw last night.

Sapp looked a whole lot better than Carroll.

well, at least they still have the two best CBs in the league :)

Attention Dolphins players!

The message from coach Sparano is as follows: "I won't have your back if you have a bad game. I don't have faith in you to rebound. I will cut you to cover my azz. Otherwise, carry on, and await my next superb team building decision. "

He cut TE Stephen Spach after a pretty mediocre performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008 (i.e. the Bernard Pollard game).

He also cut S Arturo Freeman after a bad game in 2006, I think.

Sparano has a fist pump coach... :D

I'd laugh if the Pats picked up Benny Sapp as a 5th Corner and he ended up being a standout on the team.. *LOL*

Maybe they should fired at least their conditioning coach, half the team is injured from cramps at their own stadium.

But Carroll is also a ST gunner. He has two jobs. Sapp is their nickel CB and I don't think he plays ST.

Sign Sapp and coach him up. It'd be a great thing to watch when Miami has to come up to Foxboro this winter. :D

LOL
Someone I was watching the game with said "somebody's gonna get fired/cut because of this" after the Welker TD (referring to the whole defensive performance not just that play) and he was right.

This was all after the refs missed some blatant PI's on Miami that took points away from us. That was a nasty night for that defense.

Measure Once, Cut Twice!!!!!

Really, it's a sound philosphy.

Forgot to mention, and nobody has yet brought it up here: the primary reason Welker went 99 yards isn't because of Sapp's trail coverage, but because the Cover 1 safety on the play undercut Welker's route going for the pick instead of staying over the top. Sapp was obviously expecting help over the top and a regular crossing route from Welker and didn't get either.

Presuming the Dolphins are competent, Sapp was released for reasons beyond Welker's TD.

Well to be fair we don't know if Sapp had also been stinking it up in practice and preseason, so maybe this is more than just a knee jerk reaction. That being said, the ENTIRE dolphins secondary got shredded last night so I don't see how you could blame any one guy for what happened. Dolphins passrush was also pretty weak/swallowed up by the Pats OL so I think that is also a factor that shouldn't be ignored.
