to pats denials

CBS analyst Charley Casserly was on WSKO-AM 790 Providence at the top of the hour and had a chance to explain the report he had that the Patriots have been stealing signals from opponents. Casserly asserted that his source claimed New England had multiple people in coaching outfits stationed outside the coaching box (which runs from the 32 to the 32) with cameras in hand and were warned to stop by the NFL. The idea, he said, would be to try to pick up audio, rather than just shooting from up above (where you’d be less likely to get caught), where that wouldn’t be possible.

He also helped clarify the Dolphins situation from a couple weeks ago. It was reported that Miami “bought†tapes with audio on them to pick up signals. Casserly said this was likely the raw footage, which can be purchased from the networks and can give you a single vantage point and an audio source closer to the ground.

Then, the hosts played back Bill Belichick’s terse statements directed at the former GM from earlier in the week and the flat denial that he’d heard from the league. Casserly responded by saying, “I have sources that told me (the Patriots) were notified. That’s my response to what was said. I stick by what I said Sunday.â€

And the benefit of the doubt goes to...

...the person actually employed by an NFL team!

I still find it funny that they use a guy who couldn't even hang with the Texans for news and commentary.

If he is unable or unwilling to divulge his source than his claim has no merit in my book.

Seems to me he is off base because he cannot back up or prove his statement.

Hell, I have a source that told me Mangini told Deion Branch he would hook him up with Seattle helping him to get his large paycheck a year early and thereby weaken the Patriots in the process. Good for deion - good for Mangini.

There, I said it and I stand by what I said.

thats the thing..when he comes on tv ..he never mentions 'sources told me'...he sounds so convincing by saying the patriots did so and so ...as if he was the cameraman employed by the pats.

Whats the big deal?If the NFL thought the Pats were engaging in a major infraction, they wouldnt have "warned "them, there would have been consequences.Looks like they were trying to exploit something they discovered....this whole thing is a tempest in a teapot IMO..

This is the same "GM" that stated about a month and a half ago that he would STILL pick Mario Williams over Reggie Bush.....7 months(!) after the draft AND 3 + months into the season. This is a guy who made horrible draft picks in Washington AND Houston. Sorry, I'll stick with coach on this one, fellas.

Not the same coach who chooses athletic big men over hot prospect skill players?

I forget, what positions did BB draft on Day One of last year's draft?
You want to compare Kubiak's first draft to BB's 7th draft? Bring it on, I'm sure to love your logic. While you're at it, where is that Ron Borges quote about David Terrell, surely you can use it to justify your position here.

For a start, please list which athletic big men were still available at 21? Also, feel free to argue the merits of Bush who is playing on a balanced team vs. Williams on the stud muffin Texans. I'm sure Bush would have allowed the Texans to score at will on the Pats last weekend.
