How did Haynesworth do?

I noticed him getting a few good pressures. 2 in a row that killed a drive for Miami as Henne had to throw up ducks to avoid being hit.

Also noticed he got a couple hits on Henne, and seemed very stout in Goal Line situations.


I think it only gets better from here on out. He's still learning the playbook and getting his conditioning up to par. Could be a beast by the time we return from our BYE Week.


Right now I have more hope in Haynesworth than I do in 85 (who seemed to have poor body language on the sidelines all game)

He had a mixed night. Some dominant plays. Some times didn't really do much. He has shown at times he is unblockable and is a brick wall when a RB runs at him (granted Reggie Bush isn't a power back), but he didn't do much in stretches.

Hopefully, he will improve. If we get more of the stuff when he was dominant, he will definitely provide a lot of inside pressure.

There's not stat for this that I know of, but I believe he drew 3 holding calls on Richie Incognito, of which two were accepted. Not quite as good as a sack (no loss of down), but the 10-yard markoff is very useful.

He looked pretty good on TV, was moving the O Line Backwards.. which allowed other things to happen, at least he showed up and did not appear to be f..ing the dog.

One nice tackle on Reggie Bush, practicallly clotheslined him..

I'll admit to thinking/hoping that the Pats' defensive pressure was going to be closer to the 2nd preseason game, with strong consistent pressure up the middle, Mayo wreaking havoc, etc. This wasn't that, but it was OK, and figures to improve.

I thought he did fine. First game, in Miami, played more downs than I expected, Almost got to Henne a couple times, made some plays. I think it was a really good start.

He got some good push and definatly was a lot to handle (just ask incognito). I still see him on the ground to much and he seems to not completely have his legs under him but for game 1 I think it was a good start.

I didn't know it was three, but I noticed it was more than one. Incognito didn't seem to be able to handle him.

I agree with the Posters who say that this is "all good." I think he'll get better both physically and mentally every game and by sometime in November, barring injury, will be "Albert Haynesworth."

I think he did a very good job, not great though. He was disruptive on several plays, got good penetration into the backfield, and the 2 holding calls were drive killers.

His biggest impact is that he forced the dolphins to do something they should not have. That throw they attempted on 4 and 1 was the result of Albert clogging the middle (along with Vince). They knew they had no shot running so they threw it. Mistake.

That is what Albert gives you. Fear.

he was Double teamed on all most every play and the plays that he was not he got holding calls on the Oline you cant ask anymore then that from a DT

He played better then the stats show. He presence was "invisibly felt", meaning that it won't show up in highlight reels. They include.

1. Three holding calls. Incognito couldn't handle him. The 2 that were accepted killed the Dolphins drives. This can't be underestimated.
2. Didn't get any sacks or hits, but his fairly constant presence in the backfield was unnerving for Henne and forced a few duck throws that were off target. Again, not directly attributable, but it's there.
3. Big Al and Vince up front certainly affected the play choice on 4th down. They went with a lower percentage pass play instead of run. they just weren't confident in the ability to gain a yard against they guys.
4. He was definitely a force in the run game. He was a wall out there forcing Bush left or right around him on just about every play. Miami had a very tough time moving him, even when he was doubled.

He'll only get better, but there is no doubt he changes our defense when he's out there.

Haynesworth was mostly excellent. People need to understand that being disruptive is what he does best, not necessarily making tackles or sacks. I believe he only had 40 tackles and 6 sacks when he was DPOY.

Definitely a promising showing from the whole DL. The holding calls were huge, the boys were tough on 3rd down (allowed conversions on 2/14), plus they had 4 sacks and countless hits. How much of that can be attributed to Haynesworth is difficult to say, but he was definitely disruptive and he'll only get better as his conditioning improves and he gets out of the Florida heat.

Miami's run game doesn't show much potential, but we held their RBs to 39 yards on 13 carries. That's darn good. Henne ran for 59 yards, but most of that came late in the fourth against prevent defenses. Overall, it's not a bad performance to build on.
