I know a lot of you cower at the mere mention of Rivers name...

For perspective, they struggled but managed to win at home this week against the mighty Minnesota Viqueens. Led by a QB who may amass as many yards this season as TFB did in week 1, if they don't cut his ass long before that... Rivers did just enough to pull out a W. Threw for 335, 2 TD's and 2 INT's. Had his usual chatty sideline reparte with coach too... Lost Castillo and Kaeding for the season. Gave up a KO TD on ST...

i like our chances vs your D

i just hope tfb doesn't throw for 500 on us :D

Chargers on the road--in September no less--are just not the same team that is legitimately scary at home later in the season.

Our CBs are greatly improved, going from McCourty--Arrington--Butler to McCourty--Bodden--Dowling. All three of those guys have size and should be able to slow down Jackson and Floyd.

Gates should have a field day against our safeties/Guyton however.

I really don't feel like I know the Pats' defense any better after one weird game, this should be an interesting test. Gates shapes up to be the nightmare opponent for the Pats' apparent weak area.

If Tolbert isn't ready to go that hurts the chargers. Matthews has hardly set the world alight.

this is true....

aside from fumbling in his rookie season, and missing some games due to injury, mathews is good, his ypc is pretty nice (it's not jamaal charles nice but 4.something in his rookie year was good) and he got some nice tds last year

so far he got 100 + yards combined last week, and let tolbert have all the goal line action

if tolbert's out at least mathews will get more than the 12 carries he was given last week (he actually got 118 total yards on only 15 touches, compared to tolbert's 93 total yards on 21 touches)

Norm never learns... He's psyched that they didn't fold altogether against a pathetic opponent thus creating a positive experience of winning their home opener... Have you ever seen such a talented and therefore overhyped team of underachievers with a bar set so low out of the gate and reduced to grappling with attempting to exceed the same minimal goals season after season...

this is true....

good point, but.....Pats coming off a short week after playing on a Monday night may, i say, may even things out a bit, no?

Still our D is looking good up front...more Fletcher and a better adjusted McCourty to man coverage and we will be ok...

San Diego is the land where clouds always have a silver lining because the fan base has suffered brain damage from years of overexposure to the sun and sand and surf...

i always liked bodden

i am hoping sd tries to test the cbs deep early and often, just because the early run run is just played out, we need to put on a show and there's no way in hell the vikes were going to give us any time at all

anyway, i think this game is a lot more important for sd than NE, sd really needs to get over this slow start crap, i just hope they play like it's a very important game, i know NE will be.

given our slow starts, setting an immediate goal of actually trying to get wins in september, is smart IMO lol

i know you NE's set a goal of SB every year, and don't like to take it game by game.....

The Chargers are a talented but mistake prone bunch. Granted the game was in SD last year but they had more than twice the total yards the Patriots had. They also had 4 turnovers two of which were truly giveaways not takeaways. The matchup the Patriots lost last year that they must win this year is the OLine vs their Dline. If was one of the Pats Oline's worst efforts of the season.

I still have no idea why they repeated the law firm run on 4th and short. I thought that was going to be play action to Gronk before they snapped the ball and that SD was setup perfectly for that to succeed. There were some other spotty play calls that game so I hope that is also improved.

I think the Pats win but with the game being at home but the short week coming off the heat in Miami does concern me and I think it will be a close game.

i don't think the short week will hurt ya that much, does it ever?

definitely mistake prone

we had a shot to win or tie that game late despite all those turnovers

that gives me hope that we can beat NE, if we cut down on the mistakes

every once in a while it happens lol

Jc do you think norv finally gets canned this year? I though he was done for sure after missing the playoffs last year. Does he have reveling pictures of AJ Smith(or whoever is in charge) or something?

regardless of winner or loser, it's only september, i just think the chargers have alot more on the line, given their bad septembers

i just hope they play like it....

if ya can't get up for a game vs the pats, that's just sad

I'll take home on a short week any day over traveling cross country and 3 timezones...
