MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

I went ahead and gave the player of the game award to Brady. I don't think anyone needs a reasoning behind that. ;)

My darkhourse MVP for this game is Connolly. He stepped in for Koppen and the offense didn't skip a beat. He was brilliant in his shotgun snaps and help up in blocking.

When Koppen went down, that really was a point that things could have started going badly. It wouldn't have been the first time a team lost their center and then things fell apart. So Connolly deserves big time props for not only stepping in and handling things but IMO doing a very good job.

Re: MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

I think we need to give Brian Waters major props. He's only had one week to master the complicated calls of the line and he didn't give up a sack and only had one false start and that was in garbage time.

Nothing less than amazing.

C-RG-RT

All three players deserve props for their performance.

Re: MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

I think MVP goes to Brady, and second place goes to every body else on the passing offense.

True, I gotta say, Waters did impress.

I agree with you and patspsycho. I was so amazed by how well Connolly played, I completely forgot about the excellent performance by Waters and Solder.

Re: MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

The entire offense deserves MVP honors. That includes Ocho for playing his role.

Yep, really extraordinary. Everybody knows how important continuity is on the OL, and there you had:
- a rookie LT pressed into starting at RT
- the RG moving over to center in the middle of the game
- a career-long LG who's only been with the team a week taking over at RG.
By all rights, that should be a train wreck. Instead, a record-setting passing performance and a nice clean #12 jersey.

Re: MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

Hey Psycho...I never heard a peep about Waters all night...I mean they were blabbing and blathering and blithering about lint in Reggie Busah's jock and swearinbg and generally acting Jokeresque on national TV...guess Waters had a good debut...why...why did KC of all teams, let HIM go???????

Re: MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

If you'd said a month ago we would have gotten strong line play from Connolly/Waters/Solder on the right side, folks would have been rightly skeptical.

All three were also playing out of the positions they're most experienced in.

They drafted someone younger and cheaper to replace Waters. Hey I'm glad we have him. We needed the upgrade at RG. And Connolly didn't look bad at all at C. Hope Koppen isn't seriously hurt though. the entire Pats OL played great. And they deserve recognition. Without them Brady doesn't have the time to make all those plays and pass for 500+!!

so many co-MVP runners-up: Dan, Wes, Aaron, GRONK, Solder, Waters...

Re: MVP runner up: Dan Connolly

We need Vollmer and Wendell to be healthy. But for now, this OL was truly incredible! Three players out of position in the first game of the season! How many reps do you think that line had together in practice?

We do need Vollmer and Wendell to come back.

And we do need an 8th and 9th OL. Obviously, Welch could stay as the 4th OT.

Considering we hadn't signed Waters a month ago, I would have been extremely skeptical.

I'm waiting for him to be put back in as kickoff returner. ;)

Reminds me of Russ Hochstein years ago

That S.O.B would play anywhere on the line they needed him to be and would not be a deterrent, not an elite player by any means, but no slouch either....Connelly is our new Russ Hochstein
