Dan Koppen injury thread

I'd appreciate a separate thread for news on Dan Koppen's injury -- so I'm starting one.

Was a crying a bit, or just grimacing in pain and wiping away sweat? I hope the latter, because if it was the former then it would likely have been out of pessimism about the injury.

It's left ankle, immobilized by the trainers. Two of Globe/Herald/ESPN blogged that.

Considering the fact he was carted off FROM THE FIELD and did not hobble to the sideline, it looks pretty bad. Plus, he got a send-off from members of both teams. Doubly bad.

Wendy Nix just said Koppen is out for the game (no surprise). He's on crutches. Blah blah blah. If he's back by December, that'll be fine.

i am "glad" that is only an ankle, cause when i saw him being carted off, it looked like his lower left leg was hanging lower and not lined up with his left knee, but it might of just of been a uniform issue . . .

Crying or not is meaningless. Big guys put a lot of weight on their ankles. I am prepared for the worst.

Just showed him in cast (boot) and crutches but at least he was on the sidelines.

I think the best we can hope for is he felt a pop and though it might be broken but in reality it was just a dislocation and he will be back in a few months.

Question, who is out there that we can use in place of Koppen assuming he's out for the season?

I wonder if the Patriots will be using Conolly in his stead permanently. Which makes our depth at guard rather precarious.

That's awful. He is key to picking up blitzers. And worse, we're now an injury away from disaster.

Wish we'd have signed Gurode.

Hoping for a fracture (which is still a break)...

he'd be out 9 to 12 weeks, but back for playoffs.
