Paging Thomas Welch!

Jeff Tarpanian has been released.

Yup the Pats let LeVoir go, and then let Manieri go once they knew they had Welch back, so it looks like Scar liked Welch best of the three of them (although I doubt any of them will be an All-Pro).

While Belichick always does what is best for the team, he does realize that these guys are human beings. LeVoir was an active swing tackle looking for an opportunity to start. Manieri was a developmental tackle that wanted to be active every week. Neither of those things were going to happen with the Pats this year. Assuming Scar believes that Welch is a solid developmental guy that can be an adequate gameday active when called upon, it was the right thing to do to let LeVoir and Manieri find better opportunities rather than stew about their situation in the Pats locker room.

If your Meriweather that has to sting. Tarpanian made the 53 man roster over Meriweather but Tarp was then thrown overboard for the the already twice cut Thomas Welch.

Not sure how a linebacker cut upsets someone playing at safety.

I have two thousand, one hundred and thirty posts. How many coherent thoughts were you expecting ?

I wholeheartedly disagree that BB would let a player go who can help his team so that he can go help a competitor.
Not to mention that LeVoir doesnt have a claim to being starter quality and Maneri is just trying to make a team.

I was baffled about Maneri too, but from the timing it looked like they only cut him after securing Welch to the PS. So I guess their memories of Welch were warm ones. :)
Maneri is very small for a T. I think they would have liked him for another year to develop, but I dont think his size and strength is adequate yet.

Welcome Thomas Welch! We needed a #4 OT; we have one, the one of Belichick's choice.
Now, we can just hope that Vollmer is healthy soon.

We now have a full roster. Let the season begin!

Seriously, we might still see a couple of veteran additions in the next week.

Hahahahahahaha, human beings, good one. You had me going there for a minute. If they could have helped the team as the swing tackle one of them would be the swing tackle. who cares if they want to start? Leave when you're a FA. I bet Hoyer wants to start too.

That is about the worst way of framing my point. LeVoir and Maneri were going backwards on the Pats depth chart. Could they still help the team? Sure. So why get rid of them? Does anyone believe that they would both still be gone (even with Welch available) if any of Light/Vollmer/Solder were out for the year? I believe that LeVoir and Maneri were kept as insurance for Light's return and Solder's initiation. Once that worked out, the choices were either to toss one of them and keep the other as a gameday inactive tackle or let them both go and get someone (Welch) that is a more natural fit as a development/inactive type.

Not to mention that LeVoir doesnt have a claim to being starter quality and Maneri is just trying to make a team.

I'm sure LeVoir expects to be a swing tackle and get starter snaps if needed. I'm sure Maneri expects to be active more often than not. Both are getting that opportunity with their new teams now. I'm sure they are happier than being the 4th tackle for the Pats. I just think it is a stretch that Belichick thought Tarpanian earned a spot on the 53 over them or that Welch is a better option as a fill-in swing tackle over them.

Your point didn't need to be framed. It is prima facie wrong to even suggest that the organization is making decisions based on what is best for the player personally. By saying that he realizes that they are human beings you are implying that Belichick is himself human and not a cold, heartless football computer.
