Read in today's Herald where Ted Johnson was saying he would come and play for the right money ( more then minimum). Said he is cleared to play and wasn't concerned with the concussions. Interesting, not sure if BB is interested.

Found that interesting, even though he is a little lighter, might help.. I would suspect that BB and SP did not know he was interested, there is no other obvious reason they would not contact him.

I'd sign to a vet minimum contract filled with incentives. I wonder how much he has left in the tank..

Hey Ted, come on down! We have two empty roster spots, do we not?

Huh, interesting. He's had plenty of time for his body to heal but I wonder how close (or far) he is to being in game shape. We could certainly use some veteran help. I was a TJ fan before the injury bug hit. He knew how to fill in those gaps at the line.

How can he suddenly be declared fit to play again? I thought he left the game on doctors' advice re., concussion syndrome. Now it seems he has caught Junior Seau syndrome.

How old is he now?
Probably closer to you than me, isn't he? ;)

Actually I think he's a couple years younger than I am so he must be 35-ish.

34. Close enough. :D

Maybe HE's not concerned, but he should be. He quit for all the right reasons. Why drasticly increase your odds of debilitating brain problems as you age with life expectancy on the rise?

I can only speculate that something in his life situation has changed such that unexpectedly he needs more money.

Can he punt or play wide receiver?

If I recall, he was kind of an ass after he retired and made a few unsolicited comments towards the CS. Not sure he is necessarily welcome back.

Anyone else recall the granularity of his departure?

If BB feels they could use him, and if he is 'cleared' medically, and there is some cash there, I think Johnson is a competitor and would like to return.

I think he could help the team, even if it is in a back-up role...I dunno, could it hurt? Maybe maybe not but I hope if the opportunity is there, and he is cleared medically and physically, he can help us out, should we need it....

Yeah he seemed bitter for whatever reason. He was a leftover from the old regime, so perhaps he wasn't used to BB's way of doing things (which is the complete opposite of Carroll's). Any comments to the media will be forgotten if he were to return though. Hey, if Seau can do it, then TJ certainly can.

e was on with Felger the night before...they were kidding around...I didn'y HEAR the start of it all..but it was interesting...I think it wa smore in jest than anything else...

His post-football career hasn't started as well as he hoped.

Maybe he'd like a do-over.

we are going into the final stretch. We could use any help we can get,at stopping the run.Our pass D is doing pretty well. But having to play San Diego,Baltimore.I say sign him.We need to be able to stop LT and Jamal Lewis, either that or it's going to put more pressure on our already struggling Oline to keep Brady in it long enough to play catch up.

Yes,Please!

sounds good - he knows the defense, the calls, the other players

but 15lbs lighter and no contact for 15 months is a long time for a ILB

that said could he be worse than Monty was?

I had been thinking about Ted last week, in the same context. I'm surprised to hear him pipe up about it.

But he could be helpful, situationally. Put him in there on obvious running downs.

That would give the chance to spell Vrabes and even let him back out on the outside, sometimes.

I wonder what his relationship is with the team, if there'd be any possibility, and how quickly he could get back up to speed.

I don't think it's likely, though.
