When the Colts win 10-11 games will everyone stop saying Peyton Manning is their team? Or maybe Collins was a great back up? Or their offensive weapons over preformed? It will be Caldwell's genius. Just like Reggie Wayne running the "wrong" route. Manning can never look bad.

Pass it to the left...

It's not out of the realm of possibility. Look at the talent they have on offense. They score it depends on the D stopping other teams from scoring.

If Indy is worse than .500, I think their offensive line is going to be more to blame than the loss of Manning. I seriously question their decision to let starting LT Charlie Johnson go.

That team is talented on offense and on defense. I believe if Collins can stay upright the Colts are still an 8-9 win team. Its not inconceivable that they could still win their division.. its not exactly the AFC East.

To me, all this talk about the Colts being soo lost without Manning is completely overblown.

The Colts are going to have to either completely retool their offense or hope to God that Collins suddenly learns how to do things he's never done before. Manning gets a couple of plays called into him, scans the defense without a huddle, and then calls out the play on the fly. Collins isn't going to know the playbook well enough to do that. Also, the Colts offense is deceptively simple. It's largely just your basic routes being run, but the high degree of precision achieved through all the practices with the QB and receivers makes it difficult to defend. Collins won't have that level of rapport with that group.

To make things worse, the bye week doesn't come until week 12 for the Colts. Starting games

Texans
Browns
Steelers
Buccaneers
Chiefs
Bengals

It's possible that the Colts could be 0-5 heading into Cincinnati.

Ouch LOL. But they will probably beat Cincinnati, since there's no team there.

Yeah, Deus, I see what you're saying.

Its obvious that they will have to do some things differently. I don't think they plan on having Collins throw 35-40 balls a game. If they can lean on the ground game with their multiple backs and the play action Indy should still be able to move the ball. I could see Dallas Clark and Austin Collie becoming huge assets in this kind of offense.

I think its on the defense to keep these games low scoring. If Collins has to air it out, they're screwed. I'm interested to see how they hold up against the Texans offense. But I think they can do it.

I hope you're right. I'd love the Colts to go either 8-8 or 9-7. It would finally end the "But Cassel..." crap, and would still likely leave them out of the playoffs.

If the Colts manage to win 10-11 games without Manning, there will be plenty of well-deserved credit to spread around. Why would Manning have to look bad? Did Brady look bad when Cassel won 11 games? The Colts aren't getting anything close to 11 games without Manning, though.

Clark could be in for a monster year as could Addai. Collins will love the short passing routes and dump offs.

I can't see them being a cellar dweller Deus. I accept your proposition and schedule win-loss scenario, but there's too much talent on that side for them to be a 4-5 win team.

Will Manning be okay to do his TV ad work? I will sure miss those if not.

Re: OT:When the Colts win 10-11 games will everyone stop saying

Their OL is a hot mess. Their RB are a collection of league average or less. They aren't built to run the ball. They are built to front a trancendent talent at QB. Kerry Collins may be many things, trancendent isn't one of them. That CB they invested substantially in two years ago who fell off last season and whom they cut six weeks ago...Hayden had the same procedure...

It works both ways man. What about when we won 11 games without Brady? Instead of bashing Brady most gave credit to BB. I'd expect the same in this case if the Colts somehow win that many, it'd be a great team accomplishment more than anything negative towards Manning.

People use the season Cassel had as an argument against Brady's greatness.

And those people aren't very bright

To me, such people aren't even worthy of a response. What, Brady and the Pats organization should be penalized because they had a solid contingency plan?

If the Colts don't get it done this year the only thing that should be said is that the Colts front office is short sighted for not looking ahead with a 36 year old QB.

No player is worth 8-10 wins on their own.

Another quality practice squad caliber thread for TB=TD.
