The Passion of the Christ

Not too clever encouraging people to steal by posting a link to an illegal copy of this movie. Youtube has been contacted with my concerns about this movie being available on their site.

There's much better ways to dl any movie ever released on DVD besides YouTube.

coughbitorrentcough

Not that I'd ever condone video piracy;)

kind of hilarious as the only time anyone has "copyright" concerns is when its a movie about Christ.
with all the stuff that gets linked on sites like this, the complaint is very transparent.

Enjoy the show

Kind of hilarious that you are judging someone's concerns without knowing the person. I have never illegally downloaded anything because I have too much respect for intellectual property. I own the movie and think that it is fabulous, but what do I know, I am but a Catholic and a conservative. I don't care what you download but you put the owner of this board in a risky position by posting stuff like this. Do some searches regarding the position of this board on copy right issues.

whats with the Catholic comment? obviously you dont know me and havent read my posts.

again, as far as this copyright thing, this kind of stuff goes on constantly here. Whats the problem now? I think we know why.

if it was porn nobody would have an issue with it and it would get 5,000 hits.

Just being real here, folks.

... if it was porn nobody would have an issue with it and it would get 5,000 hits.

"Passion of the Christ" IS porn, just a different kind. It's a sadistic, grisly snuff film. Anyone who needs to see something that graphic to be convinced that Jesus suffered and died on the cross is sick in the head. Gibson forfeited all opportunity to make a valid movie by reveling in torture and agony and ignoring the resurrection.

im impressed that you took the time to watch the film. Although id have to disagree that he ignored the resurrection. It was dealt with in a simple yet powerful way at the end of the film. But tell me more in detail what you thought of the film. How did it stack up scripturally?

My feeling is that the purpose of the violence of the film was to focus in on what was weathered for us. Most people havent let it in what it meant for Jesus to endure what he did for us. Hard to watch, indeed, sometimes it is.
But its supposed to be hard to watch. And I, for one, am moved by the knowledge that despite what he endured, He still thinks of us. And forgives us.
"Forgive them for they know not what they do"
Its a film about His love for us.

Would "Saving Private Ryan" be called a "snuff film"? That was graphic, yet for the purpose of telling the story of what our brave soldiers did for us on D-Day and beyond.

You say "anyone who needs something that graphic to be convinced that Jesus died on the cross is sick in the head". You miss the point.
Its not just that anyone needs convincing that Jesus died on the cross. Its that He died for US.
Thats why He came and thats for who He died.

No thanks, I'm not really into S&M...

hmmm. interesting thats what it makes you think of.

for myself, I think of Salvation by Grace, Justification by Faith in the one who died for my sins. The love that God has for us that He would sent His Son to die for us.

But hey, whatever, Bruschi..

Aw come on, can't take a joke? But seriously, who wouldn't be reminded of S&M watching the beating He takes???

If God really loves us then He wouldn't need to send His son to die for us or threaten us with hell as a punishment for living lives He considers unworthy. But hey, whatever..

He doesnt threaten us with Hell. We are seperated from Him already because of our sin and are headed there because of it. God offers us Salvation.

Hes thrown us the lifeboat, its mans own ego that says we dont need it.

And even if we dont agree with His methods, so what. Hes God and we are not.

Its not a matter of saying its true because I believe it. People believe all sorts of things that change by the week.
I believe it because its the truth.

What shows Gods love for us? That we were born. That when we draw a breath there is air to breathe. That we have someplace to sleep or something to eat if we are lucky. try fasting for 12 hours and see how dependant we are on God to provide.

And deep down we all know it. When the you know what really hits the fan in our life who do we call out to for help? Allah? Nature? Buddha?

We will all live a short, brief time on this planet. It will be like a blink of an eye. The Patriots will be long gone. Our money will be gone. Everyone we know will be gone. Everything we worship in this world will be gone.

But God will be there. Make sure you are ready.

Wait... God loves us and so allows us to be born, but punishes us by separating us from Him. Why are we punished? because a very long time ago someone (not you or I) ate a forbidden pomegranate, succumbing to a flawed impulse which was put into said person by a supposedly infallible creator?

and you're right, He doesn't threaten us with hell, His followers do that dirty work.

But it stands to reason, if God loves us all so much, regardless of whether or not we embrace him back (because it's unconditional, right???), that He wouldn't send us to hell or punish us in any way which could be considered eternal, because that would be forsaking those whom He loves. Unless you have a warped concept of love (which, by your support of snuff films like 'Passion of the Christ,' I have to consider as possible), these are inconsistencies at the very base of Judeo/Christian/Islamic belief. If you accept them then you have to redefine what love is or compromise somewhere further down the line.

You should try Kant's Categorical Imperative, only two rules that manage to cover everything.

You should know better than attempting to talk logic or spirituality with a confirmed religionist. They don't care about such things. Brace yourself for a hearty helping of dogma and a few doses of "But that's what the Bible says."

yeah but I was really proud of the way I worded that post :D

I love the Carlin bit when he talks about prayer. God has a divine plan, a plan that must be infallible. So why would you pray for his intervention in anything, like winning the lottery or scoring a date with someone. If it was meant to be in the plan it would happen. When you pray you're asking for a waiver, a "change in the plan". How rude! And you do it on Sunday, his day off!

you are still missing the point of just who is sending us to eternal seperation, or "Hell" if you will. We send ourselves. If our plane is taking off but we refuse to leave our house and drive to the airport, did the airline send us to our living room?

God gives us all free will. A parent loves his children but when children grow up they have free will. Is it a parents fault if their adult children decide to become drug addicts instead of following their example?

How do I threaten you with Hell? I dont have to. Without ************, you're already on your way by your own choice, not Gods. What im saying is that ************ offers a way to Heaven. Your logic is that you dont want to accept the gift because you dont like the fact that the gift is needed. I dont want a seat on the lifeboat because the maker of the lifeboat shouldnt have hit the iceberg.

God is providing the answer. While Satan has you blaming God for the Hell you are choosing.

Most Christians sugar coat all this in order to "fit in". Phonys like Joel Osteen go on Larry King and say he "doesnt want to say that one must accept Jesus to go to Heaven" ( because it might cut into his audience)

I wont do that. Its not "intolerant" to say that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and that No one goes to the Father except through the Son.
Its the truth. Its the loving thing to say because it is the way to Heaven. To say otherwise costs people eternity with God.

Jesus said these words and got crucified. The Disciples said these words and were killed mercilessly. Man twists these things and gets caught up in all sorts of evil in the pursuit of worldly power. But its not the truth that causes the problems, its the worldly men who get the message wrong and move away from scripture for their own evil ends. Long after the conflicts of people have come on gone, eternal truths will remain.

Accepting ************ as your Lord and Savior places you with Him for all of eternity. That is a pretty loving place to be.

Excellent point!

hmmmm

should I base my eternity on the teachings of ************ as written in the Word of God.....or George Carlin.

I dont know, I have to go with ************ on that one fellows.
