The patriots are set to workout C andre gurode.

Per rapsheet

I would not be surprised if they acquire a veteran C/G. I think it is their biggest need.

Sign him. That is all.

Sign the beast. Any trouble with Albert? Have they patched up?

i really hope they sign him. he will be an upgrade at rg over connelly...i dont wanna say i called this weeks ago because they havent signed him, but i really hope they do

We were talking about this on the "This Guy Might Be Available, Should the Pats Sign Him?" thread... I wonder what his relationship with Haynesworth is like after the head-stomping incident... but as I said on that other thread, it's the Patriots... they'll be locker-neighbors and travel buddies here.

Yea I'm the one who started the gurode released thread. I really want this guy. He is a beast

If Gurode has gas in the tank, and wants reasonable money, he might well supplant Connelly to the bench (and keep Solder focused on T), but the big thing is Wendell would be cut, a player who has talents I am too dense to see.

Let's do it!

Wendell? How about Ohrnberger?

The Haynesworth and Gurode story being on the same team should it happen might be an ESPN Miniseries...they will make it a bigger deal than the Super Bowl.

I think it's very stange bringing in a guy just before the final cuts...I think it's evident, the Pats are VERY interested in Andre.

If Wendell will become healthy anytime soon, I'd bet that Ohrnberger would get cut instead. If Wendell won't be healthy anytime soon, and we sign Gurode, then I'd bet we'd see Wendell to IR so nobody had to be cut.

You can't just cut Ohrnberger. Who would wave the the red cape as the defensive tackles charged towards the QB ?

Reiss tweeted that he's coming in for a visit, not a workout.

I really hope they sign him. At the very least, he adds quality depth to the interior of the line and that is easily the biggest weakness going into the season.

Only team on which Gurode can count on being safe -- from Haynesworth is the Pats. Pats can command "safety discount".

If you insist, I don't care, when Cannon or perhaps another cut shows up, it will be both of them in any case.

A knee injury on a 300+ pound 32-year old guy is a serious concern.

Maybe he will agree to sign after week 1, when he doesn't need to be guaranteed. It sounds like other teams have offered him that option, and where else could he possibly start on a legit super bowl contender?

What is the difference between a visit and a workout? Does visit mean it is less likely they sign him before wk1?

We could have Gurode now (or after Game 1) and Cannon after Game 6. That would be a considerable upgrade over Wendell and Orhnberger, especially if Wendell's injury is serious,
