Did you also chart his # of failures to contain the outside on fake punts?

:D

No - but there's probably an entry coming on the stellar job that Medlin did picking up the blitz on that final drive :D

Ironically, I think that this analysis reflects more on the OLine than the Vereen himself. There were defenders in the backfield on most of his carries.

Yeah, he had to have some happy feet just to get out of the backfield.

I don't see the point of this exercise seeing that he was behind an OL that will not be on this team come Saturday, except for Solder and maybe Maneri.

This was his first NFL action and he made plenty of mistakes as would any other rookies in their very first game.

I kept an eye on him. When he had a hole to get through, the guy was really fast and decisive with his cuts. Granted there weren't many plays with holes for him to hit.

Who's this little guy who started all preseason and went 16-119 (7.4 ypc)? Oh yeah, *him*. Nothing to see there, move along.

I am not overly impressed with Vereen; maybe he was hesitant because he was learning the offense but he is not as decisive as Ridley; he has a small stutter step when he first gets the ball. He has a bit of speed when he sees a hole but does not have elite explosiveness. Not too bad but he is not going make anyone forget Curtis Martin...at least not yet.

He showed fantastic hands in college and I did see one great catch so there is that.

Ridley seems to have more zip; Ridley has hot-wired feet; there is electricity when he runs but I have not seen that from Vereen...yet.

I stand by what I said; Vareen is not as decisive as Ridley. Remember Ron Dayne the Giants 2000 first round pick? Same problem; great college production but he had a stutter step after he got the ball looking for a hole; that does not work in the pros.

I'm saying to myself: I thought Vareen was inactive against the Jets last Sunday.
What's up with this thread ?

Really no need to bump this at all.

I thought I was losing my mind before seeing the date of the original post.

Dump this dumper.

Way to pat yourself on the back, the only problem is neither Ridley or Vereen have had enough oppurtunities to judge them, but don't let that stop you.:bricks:

Went into a twilight zone for a second.

Worst Bump EVER!!

What an astounding statement full of genius! I have no idea how you were able to reach this conclusion considering that Vereen has had maybe 2 or 3 snaps through 9 regular season games.

You must know something I don't.

Silly Fred. Stop Bumping old thread.

I am impressed that his post wasn't about Felger or Field Turf.
