OT: NFL grants Giants & Jets extensions on roster cuts

I bash the Ommissioner when he screws up. Props to him here for doing the right thing.

I don't know ... they split the difference, so in and of itself it's not that big a deal. The biggest issue to me continues to be that Goodell has failed to distance himself from those teams (the Jets in particular), so as a result anything that involves them results in unnecessary scrutiny and speculation.

Just to flesh out my earlier post: this is hurricane related. The game got pushed back a day. It's unfair that the Jets and Giants will be playing both on a Monday and a Thursday. Easing the roster cuts will allow some players who were probably gone to get one last game to show something, and it will allow the starters to get more rest, as they deserve.

I want Goodell gone, but I don't see any issue here. Just my $.02

I really hope we've moved on from thinking the commissioner is a secretly working for the Jets...

2 days, the Jets Vs Giants game got pushed back from Saturday to Monday night.

My mistake. I thought it had been a Sunday game.

He can let the Jets keep 90 players all season, they will still suck.

Nah, I just hate extensions in all forms. Probably because of that squeaky wheel student who always was getting extensions on assignments. I just think people should get stuff done instead of going to get their get-out-of-deadline free card. After all, their game was only 1 day later than ours. Plus they both played at home.

Oh, I get it. Goodell favors the Jets.

Look...I'm a lunatic fringe hater of the Rats...that being said, there's nothing here...the Omissioner did something right for once...perhaps setting up 4 or 5 wrongs down the road...who knows with this weasel

:agree:

Anytime the Commish does something that appears to be proper and the right thing to do, I always check to make sure my wallet and watch are still in my pockets. (I wear a pocket watch).

I just don't trust him as far as I can throw him. I really and truly believe that the NFL needs a commissioner with NO connection to any team. Someone from outside football to come in and herd all the cats, as it were.

I would feel just as uncomfortable if the commissioner was brought out from the Patriots front office. It just creates a suspicion, regardless of the man's credentials, of nepotism, favoritism, etc.

The NFL needs a commissioner with no hint of bias, someone above board, someone with no connection to football. Until that happens, there will always be questions about each and every ruling.

I actually think this is a good decision by RG!

It's not like they are allowed 85 on the regular roster!

Well that settles it... if Joker has no problem with this move by the commish, than it really must be ok. I know you'd have absolutely no problem ripping him if he was doing some thing shady ;)

I'm of the same opinion. In this case, an extension is just the right thing to do, regardless of the teams. And it's preseason, so it's not giving them an advantage in games that matter.

Why should we?
Nothing in the Omissioner's (mis)behavior thus far leads me to believe that he isn't.

Who cares, it's not like you have an unbiased opinion, being a fan of the Jets' rivals. Go on Jetsinsider and everyone thinks Roger is in Kraft's pocket. But as long as you (and them) keep spending money watching football, he's earning his salary.
