Heard Brady this morning on his WEEI interview.

He said that the level of consistency that's gotten the team to 10 wins this season is not going to carry the team very deep into the playoffs.

Geeze... you'd think the guy could be a little bit more positive and let us fans enjoy the victory for just a day before getting all whiny and negative.

I mean he just beat a team 40-7 and the team is 10-4. Brady and all these so-called fans here that want to look at the glass as half empty are really just a downer and should keep their comments to themselves.

Of course Boomer Esiason was on before Brady and agreed that this offense isn't one that, given the way its been playing, he expects is going to carry the team deep into the playoffs as well, so add another person to the "whiner" list around here.

They should at least give us at least 24 hours before anything that isn't all about celebrating a victory is discussed

Maybe they are just being a bit realistic. Or just becuase they put up 40 against the Texans it means that they can put up 40, or even 20 against the Ravens or Chargers? They Pats have not been playing their best football as of late. So they beat the Texans 40-7. Guess what? They should have. They problem is that they don't play the Texans in the playoffs. Yesterdays game is a step in the right direction, but one blow out against a poor team does not fix all the problems this team has. If they can finish out the season with quality wins over Jax and Tenn then I will be more excited about their playoff chances.

I'm all for Brady being more vocal. Let Brady speak and the team follow. It wasn't that long ago, when Brady spoke up and was shot down by his teammates, like who the hell is this guy. There has been plenty of leadership on the part of the defense. What's been missing is the vocal leadership on the offense.

No-one said this offense can carry the team. But we have the #2 scoring defense so it doesn't have to. The discussion yesterday was whether this is the worst offense in the Brady Era, and all the numbers suggest otherwise.

Did Brady say it's the worst offense he's had ? Ha ha ha. The joke's on you buddy. When Watson and Maroney are back this offense is fine.

I feel better hearing that after a blowout than hearing "we're 9-4" after getting our asses handed to us.

I'm with Brady, and it's not his job not to hurt our feelings with what he says. We haven't beaten many playoff teams this season, a 40-7 win over the Texans isn't a huge reason to celebrate.

No one's said this team's been consistent.

Apparently you haven't read my posts of constructive criticism as you are now obsessed with whining only.

Totally agree. Brady was right on. there are so many posting here that
think that 40-7 win was such a big deal.

The offense was still not very good . Check the running stats.
The reason for the points is because PATs Offense played on a 50 yd field
all day. That will not happen in the play offs.
How many times did they have to settle for FGs?
How many 70 or 80 drives did PATs do yesterday?
Can they even make a drive like that without stalling the drive?
Wake up people .... take off those homer glasses ... and see things for
what they are .... the way Brady sees it.
The inconsistencey he talks about I believe is due to the facts
1. PATs' WRs are second rate
2. The Oline is poor against good defenses.

Well, I'm unhappy that he didn't post that on the the unhappy thread.

But, maybe he took last night to be happy about the victory. Did anyone ask him that?

That's pretty much the way i feel. I wouldn't be as worried if the O had mounted any real drives and if they didn't stall on the short ones they had.
But hey, Walter did ok!!

Brady also said that he was happy with the wide receivers he had.

Brady is a competitor and like Belichick, isn't going to be happy with his play until they win the Super Bowl. All the great athletes have that attitude - they are never satisfied and always strive to get better.

I took it as self-deprication, as he is known to show, and answer #527 from BB's list of approved answers for a question about a recent win.

I'd like to think TB's got a more optimistic view of the playoff future, too. But I'm not sure he'd let on lest someone misconstrue it as bulletin board material. Most words, from BB on down, are carefully chosen to prevent it.

That's reality my friend.
Blah, blah, blah. Reality is what we've done over 14 weeks and it's good. You want to take out all our good games and say the rest stink. Whatever.

Brady was remarking about the season as a whole.

He very clearly stated that the consistency of the offense demonstrated this season was not good enough for the playoffs. That includes games with Watson and Maroney.

I don't think he was joking.

Did it ever occur to you the short field was the source of the low yardage? It's tough to run for hundreds of yards when doing so would put the line of scrimmage in the parking lot each drive.

I can't believe how insane things have become here.

No kidding. We need to win 4 in a row in the playoffs and right now that probably isn't going to happen. My comment was because you were obviously trying to tie this in to that rogue thread about the offense being the worst since 2000, which it clearly isn't.

Did it ever occur to you that 3.1 yds/carry is the same on
a 50yd field as it is on 100yd field?

It is still bad ..... and against a team that has allowed 4.3yd/carry average!
Pitiful ... and take away KF's 43 pass for TD the yds/pass were poor
at about 4.5/yds per completion! Defense won that game by making
almost impossible for the offense NOT to score points. But they tried.....
.... how many FGs did they have to settle for?

PATs won .... yeah but ... take off your Homer glasses ... it wasn't very good offensively.
Brady was right ... this team is too inconsistent to expect very much
in post season. I think it may be too late to turn it around.
But miracles do happen:)

There was a time not so long ago that we Patriots fans were very satisfied to have a winning season. There was a time not so long ago that we Patriots fans were more than satisfied just to make the playoffs. There was a time not so long ago that this team had never played in a Super Bowl, let along win one. There was an even more recent time that we had an 0-2 Super Bowl record and a 7-10 post season record.

Then Robert Kraft bought the team and made it public that the team's goal was to compete every year for the Super Bowl. Then he hired BB and that became a reality.

The team has made good on Kraft's promise by winning 3 Super Bowls in the past 5 years. We should NOT go back to the days of being satisfied with a good win, or an over-.500 season.

Brady is right; we haven't done anything yet and if we don't play consistently better we won't do anything. As the team leader it is right for him to say so, to remind his teammates not to congratulate themselves yet, because nothing significant has yet been accomplished.

Or how about taking away Gaffney's drop of a perfect pass and adding those yards ? You can't just take out the good plays and say the offense sucked without them. Unbelievable.
