Ladies & gentlemen,

With all the whining and complaining going on around here, you'd think our team was 4-10 instead of 10-4. There are some amazing facts out there, that I don't think people realize.

There are 32 NFL teams, and after after 14 games for each team, there are only 5, repeat FIVE teams with 10 wins. The Pats are one of them.

The Pats are 3rd overall in points against (Behind Baltimore & Chicago). This is an amazing fact considering all the defensive injuries.

Of the 32 NFL teams, only 7 teams have scored more points than us. This too is an amazing fact, considering the perception by most Pats fans that our offense is horrendous. Sure, I wish our offense was better (my only complaint is how they play against good teams), and agree with some of the complaints posted here at Patsfans, but #7 out of 32 sure aint bad.

On a side note, I'm a huge Maroney fan, but I think our rookie of the year is Stephen Gostkowski. He's 17 for 21 on FG's (81%), 2 of those so called misses were blocked kicks. So the one's he's actually kicked towards the goal posts, he's only missed 2 all year. He's also 36 for 36 on extra points, that's 87 points for the season, on pace for a possible 100 point rookie season. Guess who's the last Pats rookie kicker to score 100 points, that's right, Adam Vinitieri. The Gost sure has answered a lot of questions, and is well worth the 4th round pick. Gostkowski has 87 points, Vinitieri has 88 going in to the SD game.

Isn't it funny how people were so down on Gostkowski to start the season and also down on BB for not letting him kick in some situations early on - looks like BB and Seeley knew what they wanted to do to bring along the rookie and allow him to develop out from under AV's shadow. :)

Yes, exactly. People, we are 10-4 with a rash of injuries. We have 2 games lead over NY Jets, our closest competitor. Not to mention we play in the HARDEST division in the NFL. The 4th rank team in AFC East is 6-8, the next closest is 5-9 from NFC East. Despite all this we are in great shape, and I truly believe that we could still play for a 3rd seed with Ind having to play Bengals and Miami, and SD to play Kansas City and Seattle.

Unfortunately, even if Gostkowski, ends up with more points than Vinatieri, people will still say we made a big mistake letting him go...

Let them have their say. Gost has exceeded my expectation and I am glad we have him. 12 out of the last 13. He's kicking well as we head into the playoff and that's all it matters.

The whining will continue because that's all some people know how ot do.

We are now 10-4 with two tough road game ahead. We will get Big Vince, Watson, Maroney and Rodney back. I still like our chances of being 12-4. Barring any other key injuries, we will make a run for the big prize. Can any fan ask for more at this time of the year?

The whiners need to talk to Woody, McGinnest, Givens, even Branch, and see what it's like on the other side. This is a pretty good place to be.

I call it Borges syndrome.

This team's record will be no worse w/o Givens, McGinnist, AV, and Branch than it was with them last year. Go figure.

Speaking of ole Deion, I just saw that Caldwell has more receptions then him.....wtf!

Well Deion has more TD's and yards but none the less, Deion isnt exactly worth the money given to him. Maybe around where he is getting but still...

I agree totally. The Gost is doing his part and doing it under the radar. We are 10-4!!!!!People remeber when we won 4 games iin a seaean we thought we had a chance.....EASTON anyone.......Defense really man up today.....GO PATS!!!!!!:rocker:

For the love of Pete.... is there ANYONE here who thinks this team is perfect and therefore no need to discuss issues of concern heading into the playoffs?

Anytime someone writes something expressing the least bit of concern, they're called ungrateful fans or whiners

There's a lot of reason to be concerned. And a lot of reasons to be hopeful.

If you can't handle talking about both sides of the spectrum GET OFF THIS BOARD.

This is a board for in depth football analysis. That might mean looking at a win and noticing that we did no more to stretch the field in this game than we did against the Dolphins, when a good defense killed us because of it.

Stop trying to goad others into wearing rose colored glasses that allows the "true" fans to avoid seeing any faults on this team.

Basically, what I'm saying is STOP WHINING ABOUT THE WHINING!

Actually, the whining will continue because the Pats are playing like a mid-pack team.

I don't take much consolotion from today's blowout. The passing game was wretched as usual. It looked OK because the other team self-destructed and because the Pats were able to run a little bit against a horrible defense.

This team is going nowhere fast unless they happen to meet up against the likes of Houston in the playoffs.

So, stop whining that we need to stop whining about whining. :nono:

Sorry - no can do. We've got a few threads going on here that seem to be intent on flaming anyone who wants to look beyond the final score and get into some of the in depth numbers.

People who are opposed to doing that are going to ruin this board - at least more so than any of those who are "whining" following a win against a 4-10 team.

Well I was listening to something on a pregame show on the way back from the game and they mentioned how when Indianapolis loses, people automatically dismiss it as a fluke, no matter if they lost to a terrible team. But most people will want Brady's head or something after a loss. Its kind of annoying.

The worst offense ever? He's a bust? I want my blankie?

C'mon Joe, we just put up 27 points at half time and people are whining like spoiled babies.

Why not look for improvement with the team we have instead of comparing it to some mythical juggernaut that could score at will.

For one day? OK?

The only improvement I saw today was that Watson wasn't in the game for his weekly fumble and Brady didn't throw any picks.

Honestly, if you look at the performance objectively, the Pats stunk the place up on offense. Dropped passes, mostly short completions. False start penalties. Same crap we've come to know an love from the 2006 Pats. The only difference is that we ran the ball and played with a lead so the horrible Houston defense couldn't pin their ears back and go after Brady. If we had played this way against good teams, we'd be right back in the Miami mode.

And, my god, have you ever seen the Pats miss so many tackles? Thank god the Texans self-destructed in this game.

You guys can fool yourselves all you want. This team is going nowhere. They aren't that good.

OK everyone - you heard it... nothing but positive feel good posts for 24 hours after a game.

Anything else is prohibited

I agree that the "bust" talk and "worst offense ever" is premature - and said so in those posts. But I wouldn't prevent any of those folks from the right to post.

But I guess everyone else feels like there should be a 24 hour prohibition.

Can there be a period of 24 hours of strict reality as well? A ban on rose colored glasses?

There is a difference between constructive criticism and whining.
