No.....???

Tough to say. Why haven't the Pats cliinched? If they finish 10-6 with the Jets, the Pats win the tie breaker (5th). They would be knotted up until the fifth tiebreaker when the Pats strength of schedule would give them the crown. So if they can't lose, why don't they announce them as champs?

I think Jax is the opponent.

If teh Pats and Jets finish 10-6 the Pats would finish second on the 4th tiebreaker. Conf Rec Pats 6-6 and Jets 7-5.

and jets win the division...thats why iam surprised all these guys on pats fifth quarter jumping to ideas about who they want to play...pats have a tougher 2 game schedule than the jets.

Right?
. .. ... ....

You are right Tenn would be our wild card opponent.Because if we
lose to jax and jets win the next two we have to beat tenn to be in the
playoffs. We lose all tie breakers with jax, denver cinn jets.

not sure how...
tenn is 7-7, for tenn to make playoffs they have to win both their games, if pats lose to both , and jets win next two...jets win div.

This will probably scare some people here but Denver will likely be our first round opponent in the playoffs. Even if Cincy manages to upset Indy tomorrow night (which will be difficult given Indy's 2-game slide) they have a short week to prepare for a road game in Denver - advantage Broncos. Denver closes at home vs. the 49ers - not a gimmie but we're talking AFC vs. NFC.

Broncos at Patriots - Saturday, January 6th on NBC at 8pm - my prediction.

EDIT-after looking through the conference standings, a Broncos/Pats rematch could be CLINCHED on Christmas night.

Here's the scenario - If:
Colts beat Bengals (probably)
Pats beat Jags (50/50)
Colts beat Texans (likely)
Ravens beat Steelers (probably)
Broncos beat Bengals (50/50)
Raiders beat Chiefs (doubtful)
Fins beat Jets on x-mas night (50/50),

then the playoff rematch will be on!

The Titans won't be in the playoffs.

I want no part of Denver..

By the way Tennessee's defense is the worst in the NFL...statistically speaking.

I guess some want no part of a 4th Lombardi...

I understand your thinking, but Denver is like Miami to me, its Tom Brady's kryptonite.. Belichick is 2-6 in his last 8 meeting with Denver.. Im not interested in playing Denver again.. Culter is only getting better, the d is tough .. It would be nice to get some revenge ,but I rather take a different route to Miami..

Nothing worth having was obtained the easy way...

If we can't handle a banged-up Denver squad at home in January with a rookie QB making his 6th start then we're totally screwed against the likes of Baltimore and San Diego in their houses.

Exactly.

Being a champion isn't about being able to beat certain teams, it's about beating any team, no matter who you play. If the Pat's can't beat Denver again in the playoff then frankly they don't deserve it.

Oh, here we go again...throwing logic and statistics into another illogical and rediculous thread.:D

I will take my chances with Marty Schotenheimer and Tony Dungy.. Baltimore does concern me a bit.. But on coaching when the pressure is on I will take Belichick over any one of those 3 ... Shanahan concerns me, just never seem to match up well.. While we are at , here is hoping the Jets dont come in to our house either.. I will take the Jags or the Bengals in round 1 over the Broncs or the jets.. My first choice was the Chiefs, but tonight all but killed thier chances...
