Always liked the guy and wished he could have spent his entire career as a Patriot.

From his Twitter account:

Fans/Friends: I have decided 2 retire after 10 great yrs n the NFL! I have accepted a multi-yr contract w/ @nflnetwork & I'm n the process

Didn't realize he has been in the NFL for 10 years though. Thought it was probably like 6 or 7.

Good for him. Get out while you still have your health. Hopefully he's a good analyst.

always liked him . He left the pats and won a SB a Success after leaving the pats //

Not only was he a contributer but was a key leader in the Saints SB run. he was highly talked about but payton and brees as a leader.

Agreed. He's a football player of the type that Coach likes. I'm glad he found success and I am even happier he is leaving without any serious injury.

Heath was a true throwback to the old Patriot guard and by that I mean he had to leave New England to get his ring. :D

Heath was fun to watch and that Dolphins game his first year was extremely entertaining.

I was routing for the Saints just for him too :D OK maybe there was another reason :D

+1. It was soo easy to root for the Saints.
a) they played the Colts.
b) I think that team had 5 ex Pats-Heath, David Thomas, Randall Gay and 1 or 2 more I can't think off.

Rodney and Heath Evans both joining NFL-N? Excellent, the more Patriot alumni on TV, the better.

McGinest is on NFLN too, right? Great stuff; love to see Bruschi jump too, but he has a good gig with the ESPN.com/Boston thing.

Didn't know Rodney went to NFLN! That stinks since he was the only guy on NBC that made any sense..

I wish him all the best in life after football.

He's still doing NBC as well iirc.

On Sunday nights at least.

Good luck to him, still love him for that gutsy performance in 05 vs the fins.

Before I knew that he had signed w/ the NFLN, I was surprised to see him as a sideline reporter
(I forget the game). He wasn't very good, or to be kind wasn't very polished.
Here's hoping that he improves as he gains more experience & gets more comfortable.

Technically he couldn't have spent his whole career with the Patriots since he previously played for the Dolphins, but I know what you mean (rest of his career) and I agree wholeheartedly. Glad he got a ring though I wish it was with us.

If I recall correctly Evans said something earlier this year, when the lockout began I believe, that he had been taking some classes/instruction on broadcasting after having been given that initial opportunity, with an eye on the future for a post-NFL career. I would think/hope that he'll be better prepared this go around. I have heard him on the radio a couple of times over the last year or so and he comes across very well in those interviews.
