...and it was Mike & Mike. Greenberg mentioned that the conditions that TFB plays in makes his numbers even more impressive, whereas Manning plays in a dome nine times a year at minmum.

That was refreshing.

Did he mention all the #1 draft picks the Colts surround Manning with...WRs, RBs, TEs, OLs while Brady was blessed with only his second #1 ....another OL

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

Even the defenses Brady faces are far superior to Manning.

normally we face: Jets x 2, Ravens, Steelers, Chargers, Dolphins x 2. Colts face Texans x 2 (one of the worst defenses league wise last season), Jaguars x 2 (really?), etc.

Brady has always been the better QB...

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

brady's done more with less in his career

plus

peyton's made way more mental errors that i've seen, as opposed to brady in their careers

Graham, Watson and Maroney come to mind as other first round offense players that pats have invesested in. Now one of them was a bust and the other 2 were solid players but nothing spectacular. Point being is that we have invested some first round capital on offensive skill positions. Colts seem to invest more first round picks into their offense. Generally they have done a good job picking skill positions. They have had their share of duds though.
If Brady quit tomorrow and Payton was traded to the Pats i think he would get acclamated to playing outside in cold weather pretty fast. The guy lives and breathes football. I think BB would love to coach Payton (not that he doesn't love coaching Tom) for that very reason. They are both football junkies.

One's an excuse whore.

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

Manning and Brady are deservedly 1 and 1 in terms of best QBs. Deal with it.

Well, Brady is better so...

You know this is a Patriots board right?

This argument again eh. Cue the lurkers and would-be trolls.....3.....2.....1....

Doesn't mean you can't be either objective and/or realistic.

True, but the fact of the matter is that Brady plays in much harsher enviroments against much tougher defenses without the comfort of a dome.

Thats being realistic.

True but it's one small part of the equation. I highly doubt that Manning wouldn't have learned to be just as effective in cold weather. He's a HoF lock at QB.

Both have their strengths, their detailed resumes and a legit claim to the best QB over the last 10 years. I prefer Brady, but at this point I don't know why it even needs to be debated. Everyone knows how good both QBs are.

Also, say what you want about talent surrounding Manning, but Brady was surrounded by a HoF coach. Again, both guys are in great situations. Just different.

What's a troll? Someone who disagrees with the common wisdom that everything Patriots is right?

Are we only supposed to discuss things like who we can trade Wilhite for?

Long term memory loss on my part....must.....resume ....taking ....pill.
Guess my spiel only applies to the current roster....less effective....yes...but I am a homer

Common wisdom dictates that Tom Brady is better than Peyton Manning.

So, Brady's been better in New England weather than Manning has been in a dome, and you contend that Manning would actually improve in New England weather? Interesting.

Anyway, I started this thread because I was amazed that a fact so obvious never gets any play.

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

I think they're very close but the arguments here sound good to me. Playing in a dome vs. facing the defenses we face year in year out.

Keep in mind Peyton has 2 things going for him.
His last name.
He makes it look hard.

Brady makes it look easy.
The one who makes it look hard makes people notice it more.
All the pre-snap stuff is overly dramatic, while Brady usually taps his helmet or something simple. Peyton runs around and tells every player what he wants them do with that grimace on his face.

Re: FINALLY someone national brings up playing conditions regarding Brady and Manning

yes but you came onto a thread discussing the playing conditions of the two QBs, and instead of making a well thought out response to the playing conditions point, you want all ape and said "they are 1&1, deal with it" that is not being very objective my friend . . .

now if you REALLY want to get into the playing conditions discussion and you look at their two stats on an equaly playing field, you will find that the two are statistically equally outside of their respective home (i.e. both players stats in the other 30 stadiums, that is equal), they both do well against the AFC south, both do poorly against the AFC East, and both play well inside . . .

so the biggest argument for Manning being better are the stats, but if one where to look at the stats on a equal playing field you really dont see that much of a difference, the only difference is that Manning plays more games in playing conditions that favor both QBs . . . so naturally he will have better overall yearly stats . . .

once you take away the stats argument, or more specifically say that TB and PM are equal in the stats catagory, you are going to have a tough time saying that they are both 1 & 1 ;)
