LeVoir to Start at RT for Ravens

How 'bout that! The debate over the claim that "the Patriots will be cutting guys who could start with other teams" is resolved weeks before the season even starts. QED.

Since I'm the one that made that claim and was roundly "pooh poohed" by a certainly moderator, I wonder if he'll send me message or even a bouquet of flowers of apologie?. ;)

Put me on record saying he should never have been released.
With Light, who is old, and Solder, who is a rookie, it does'nt make sense to me. Especially after the more than adequate job he did filling in last year.

Who would you have released in his place?

Follow up on this: Per PFT, this may not be how things shake out in the end. Reportedly, for example, the Ravens are interested in McKinnie.

Ravens show interest in Bryant McKinnie | ProFootballTalk

According to Schefter, the Ravens have signed McKinnie.

2 year, $1M guaranteed, up to $7.5M. Looks like LeVoir's reign as the starter didn't last very long after all... regardless, I think he'll do well even as the primary backup, if that's what it comes to.

On a side note, this is pretty much exactly why Belichick cut LeVoir loose early, isn't it? If he had held onto him until final cutdowns, LeVoir wouldn't have had much of a chance to compete a starting job. It's a shame that he did it with a fellow AFC contender, but regardless, he still did a solid favor to a guy who had done well for us. Stuff like that must get remembered down the line.

Well, I know what side I'd be loading up on when I blitzed the Ravens.

The left? Oher's not that great in Pass-Pro. LeVoir meanwhile is a very steady player in both facets.

I duno, no easy answer there. I just know that without adequate protection, all the skill players in the world won't help much. We saw that in the playoffs. I'm not impressed by Tate or Price so far. With the TE's we have, and the pass catching skills of our backs... I dunno. I hope Light stays healthy.

Levoir was expendable I don't think he was the wrestler guy...

the big wrestling dude [NCAA champ] washed out a long time ago i thought

Huh? Have you not been paying attention? And you do know there is a guy named Solder on the team if Light isn't healthy? Solder looks to be better than LaVoir pretty much right now.

Wow, are you saying you'd have tried to keep 5 OTs on the 53? Personally, I was surprised they cut LeVoir so soon. He seemed like the #5 tackle, and thus one preseason injury away from the roster. (I assume they had their reasons -- perhaps it was a veteran courtesy cut, or perhaps there's more to the depth chart than I'm seeing.) But I haven't heard anybody suggest they'd keep all 5.

And with Maneri, who is still learning the position(s).
Releasing LeVoir so early seems a bit short-sighted, and risky.

Any one of Austin, Compas, Wetterer or Woods.

P.S.: I heard on Moving the Chains this pm that Bryant McKinnie is officially a Blackbird.
LeVoir now prob. becomes their swing Tackle.

Neal was the champ (he beat Brock Lesnar), he just retired this past offseason. I know there's been at least one other UDFA wrestler who washed out though

What would Price have to do to impress you, if he hasn't managed to yet? Not get hurt when he gets a helmet drilled into his face?

They signed Bryant McKinnie didn't they? :confused3:

None of those guys have a prayer of making our rosier......... New Question....

Name an active guy (i.e currently expected to make the roster) you would have released before LeVoir.
