...another man's treasure:

The Ravens announced the signing of LeVoir on Sunday, and by Monday afternoon's practice, he was taking most of the repetitions with the first offense. From all indications, the experiment of trying to pencil in rookie Jah Reid, the team's third-round pick out of Central Florida, as the starting right tackle for the season opener on Sept. 11 has ended.

Not sure why Pats cut him.....wasn't he an ex wrestler ala Neal ?

But will he be a GOOD starter?

How 'bout that! The debate over the claim that "the Patriots will be cutting guys who could start with other teams" is resolved weeks before the season even starts. QED.

Well, I know what side I'd be loading up on when I blitzed the Ravens.

Sounds like it might be more about the disappointing start for the rookie rather than LeVoir being some kind of super stud.

No doubt. But it still means that the Pats' #5 tackle is beating out the Ravens' #2!

Good for LeVoir; I've always liked the guy, been a fan since he crushed that Jets DB (Coleman?) on a screen to the point that the Jets were *****ing after the game about how it was unfair. Hopefully this means that Maneri is good enough enough to start for someone too :p

Okay, if the Patriots are THAT deep, who is on the probable cut list/game day inactive list that could net the Pats a 6th or 7th rounder? We now know our straight cuts can contribute to teams that expect to make a strong play-off push, so the bubble guys are probably able to do so as well.

This to me says that he probably had TRADE value...make it contingent on his playing time...maybe could have gotten a 4th out of him. Doh!

Nah, they always try to trade a vet first if they can. A guy with LeVoir's resume in the final year of his contract isn't likely to net you any pick, let alone a 4th!

More likely the Ravens just gave him a try and were pleasantly surprised.

Just goes to show what you know, doesn't it?

I could've definitely got a 4th rounder for him in Madden.

I'm happy for the guy cause I'll almost always have a soft spot for departed Patriots.

Don't think there would have been an offer for a 4th rounder as the comps are #2/#3 receivers, keystone defensive players (Ted Washington) and somehow Lawrence Maroney who have been able to be had for 4th rounders. If there was a trade, I figure a 6th or 7th rounder, much like the Ojinnka trade as both LeVoir and Ojinnka are swing tackles with some limited experience and both should be able to not embarrass themselves if asked to start but they will never dominate.

Yeah, right up to the time when he blows up one of our CBs on a screen pass.

good for him. Hope he does well, except when we play them.

Donald Strickland was the victim:

This may not bode well for BB trying to sneak any of his developmental OL/DL guys through waivers and onto the PS.

Just because you start in the NFL, doesn't necessarily mean you are good.
