In case you are not sure of the hit we are talking about, it came in Thursday night's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After the play is clearly over, Steelers' offensive lineman Ramon Foster dives into the back of Philadelphia Eagles' linebacker Jamar Chaney's legs. There was no penalty, as somehow the hit was not deemed late or unnecessary

If you missed the hit, you can check out the video here.

scumbags gonna scumbag

This is not news

Reminds me of that scumbag move in a BC college game a few years back - I think the victim was Kiwanuka.

THIS is the type of thing that Kommondant Goodell should really be clamping down on.

Have to say that I don't think this is a 'Steelers' issue though - they play the game hard - the same way Rodney Harrison used to.

That's one of the worst I've seen in a long time.

The Kommisar has issued a "Get out of jail cheaply" card to the venerable Rooneys who cannot ever be castigated in the media.

That's worth of a suspension and a six figure fine. Totally premeditated.

can a player be suspended for regular season games for onfield hits in the preseason? :)wondering:)

WOW, that's as bad as I've seen in a long time...diving specifically at the knees with the obvious intent to hurt!

The claim is that Foster was the victim of an uncalled late hit a play or 2 earlier. Not having seen complete footage, I can't tell if this was a fight of some kind with retaliation or just out-of-the-blue scumbaggery.

I don't think ANY claim of previous misconduct can excuse that particular type of play.

Diving at the back of someones legs while they are unaware is the lowest of the low.

Yeah I agree but even still, it does change the situation if it was premeditated and totally unprovoked versus some tit-for-tat ongoing brawl the 2 were having play after play.

In either case the refs should be calling these.

i have no factual basis behind this but...

i would have to say 100% yes. Especially if the NFL can suspend a player for activity off the football field.

i may be wrong though

thanks ....

It works, I wouldnt mind seeing the Pats drop a late knee to the gut or talk more trash.

The thing that always pissed me off is I don't think I can remember a single other team that's knocked a star QB out of a playoff game on a hit below the knees. Since 2001, they've done it to TWO star QB's including TFB. The other was Carson Palmer, who was never the same after his injury. 99% of the time I condone borderline hits better than most (I have no ill will towards Bernard Pollard), but I found this pretty shady.
