Based on his comments on PFT, it seems like Pryor was expecting to go to the Dolphins or Redskins in the Supplemental Draft. He said he talked to Miami "a bunch of times," which suggests to me that, once again, the phins couldn't pull the trigger early enough. Who knows, maybe they felt like he was only worth taking in the 3rd round, but not the 2nd, and Oakland was, unfortunately for them, ahead of the pack in the 3rd round.

Whatever the case, I think it's laugh-out-loud funny that the Dolphins keep whiffing on landing a QB. No Kolb, no Mallette, no McNabb, no Orton, no nothin'. And, hilariously enough, it's doubtful they'll be so bad as to be in place to pick the Stanford QB #1 overall. Ha ha.

I shed no tears for Miami. They have created this situation themselves. I do feel some sympathy for their players who are in this situation of likely losing a whole bunch of games due to the myopic actions of their front office.

In all honesty, I think Miami saved themselves a 3rd round pick here. Where Miami screwed up, was in not sending Denver a 2nd, or something other, to Denver for Orton. That's the move I'd have made, if one had to be made at all. The question from Miami's perspective is probably whether or not Orton is worth the 2nd rounder, with respect to being an upgrade from a one year wiser Chad Henne. I think he would be, but maybe the people closer to Henne in the Dolphin organization feel differently. Either way Miami has an uphill battle facing the Jets and Pats 4 times.

Miami wanted Mallett by a lot of accounts too although they were scared about the drugs and partying rumors around Mallett. Let's face it, the Miami area is not the best place for a rich young athlete that likes drugs and to party.

Mallett would have been a better pick up for them. Not sold on Pryor as a QB.

Cry me a river ...Miami....LOL :singing:

The last thing Miami wants or needs is any type of project at QB.

That organization has proven time and again that they can't spot talent and they certainly can't nurture it when its comes to the most important position in the game.

They definitely know how to build defenses over there, so with that in mind they should just bite the bullet and pay over the odds and trade for a relatively established QB.

I'm sure we could throw in Hoyer if they sent back a couple of 1st rounders ;)

Remember Aqua4Evah and his posts about Beck "The Future"?
Ian never shoulda banned the guy. His entertainment value was priceless.

Miami faces the Marino Curse, decades w/o another stats making QB. A front office made gunshy over past QB wiffs passed on Mallett who in the 3rd round despite rumor concerns should have been taken by any of several QB deficient or aging QB teams before the Pats. I'm not a huge Mallet fan but I think he represented serious value in the 3rd.

Andrew Luck will end up in South Beach either by trade up or if the Phins stink in 2011, they may not have to

We have plenty of DL lets trade Myron for a 3 to Miami :D

Their defense is too good to land them Luck.

So because Pryor says he talked to Miami a bunch of times we should assume they wanted him in round 3 and were beaten to him by the Raiders? Maybe they wanted him in round 6? Or maybe they were doing their due diligence to determine if they wanted to sign him as an UDFA if no one picked him like the Ravens did with Michael McAdoo?

I agree w/ you man. imo. Miami is only a good QB away from being A very very good team.

I LOL'dxD when they didn't go after Matt Ryan and took Long instead of him :rocker:

edit- they also passed on Drew Breezy :) b/c of a shoulder concern. I love their Front Office.

They took Ordick as well. Ppl were high on him here and I hated Ordick

I LOVE MIAMI'S FO :)

I'm not sure the Phins missed out on Brees. That seemed like part of the package deal for Benson to keep the Saints in N.O. after Katrina. League help to fix and re-model the Superdome, the draft path to Reggie Bush, and Brees signing as the franchise QB.

Miami is scared to get any deal done for a quarterback. It seems like after Pat White did not work out, they have refused to sign a quarterback. It is quickly becoming a destination that many quarterbacks will not even consider. The AFC East is far to tough for them.

1) Just about every pundit I've heard has said this guy's not going to make it as a pro QB anyway. As a WR maybe, but not at QB.

2) By taking him with that pick, the Raiders now have no picks in the second, third, or fourth rounds in next year's (regular) draft. No wonder their fans are so pissed off that they start fights at preseason games.

The Raiders used a round 3 pick on a squib. Meh meh and meh. The only shame is Miami didn't waste a 2nd on him

If I'm Miami, I am playing NOT for the Super Bowl but the Andrew Luck Bowl this year. He is the long term future. I know I will have stiff competition from the likes of the Bengals, the Seahawks, the Bills, the Panthers, the Broncos and assorted other aspirants. Miami knows there is no chance short of a miracle that they can have the team with the 1st pick in the 2012 draft to trade that pick to them (despite being willing to offer the entire 2012 draft picks for the #1 pick). So, Miami will have to earn it. So far they have done things right including signing a has been Larry Johnson as RB. Now, they need to set the right tone on the opening Monday nite game against the Patriots. All they have to do is lose big.

I feel bad for aqua.

His John Beck and Ted Ginn Jr dreams crashed and burned bad :bricks:

Ah the Ginn Family. So soon we forget. And then there was that Phins center who was gonna be All-Pro. I forget his name. Got cut or traded away for squat. Good days back then.
