This is a guy who Brother Mayo and I are both very high on. He's the guy that, at FootBallsFuture, last spring, Rabbi'sSon and I ~ this was months before our blow up ~ were maybe the only ones who'd even HEARD of the guy, and were both pumped about:

#66 ~ "Crushing" Kade Weston ~ 6.5/315

Kade Weston is raw as hell, and would need a year or two to develop and unleash his potential, but his rare fusion of Size, Power, Brute Strength, Speed, and startling Agility for a man of his Immensity offers the capacity to be an utterly destructive FORCE.

And this is not Athlete Who Can't Play.

His FootBall skills are exceptional as well: His performance in the Positional Drills at the 2010 Combine literally drew applause!! :rocker:

***

He's got a long ways to go, but I liked what I saw against the Jaguars, and even though he's currently #427 on the D Line Depth Chart, I believe that his potential is immense.

Anyone have any thoughts on this young Beast?

I dunno if that's the best picture to showcase Mr. Weston's talents.

Could someone please explain the Kade Weston obsession to me? What has he done this year that impresses people? I have not seen him do anything that stood out to me so far.

Thanks.

I hope you don't think he is an OL? I actually think you do. lOL

Anyway, he is faster than Suh. I liked him too. Right now, I have him or Warren making the roster. I hope he does well again today.
I have always suspected that his BP score hurt him a lot for a DT.

Or maybe because the QB is also a Patriot now too :p

i'm guessing that he said that because the picture is weston vs. mallett

Nope, the  sold him to me, I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt but if only he will be true about it and just laugh about it.
It was not sarcasm in anyway.

I'd rather keep Weston over Warren. Warren's experience was good to have last year on a very young line but is it needed now that we have added Carter and Haynesworth?

Give it time, the soup is almost ready.

What am I missing or not recalling from Weston's 27snaps of 90+ possible in the Jaguars game last week? Didn't even record a defensive stat...

What have you seen from Weston that would make you want to keep him?

1. He can play five tech.

2. Reports out of camp last year before he was injured were that he held his own against the first team O-Line.

3. Moves well for a big man (sub-5 40 time).

4. Has a cool name. Could lead to the coining of a new term. As linebackers and corners get "Gronked", we can say that quarterbacks and running backs got "Kaded".

Sorry, I didn't realize I needed to explicitly put "THIS YEAR" in the question. Let me rephrase:

What have you seen from Weston THIS YEAR that would make you want to keep him?

Absolutely nothing. That's why I'm not advocating keeping him over someone else.

I thought that maybe since you were advocating keeping Weston over Warren, maybe you had seen something this year that made you want to keep him. I guess not.

Yes, he showed up to camp nine years younger than Warren.

Have to agree with you. Weston is just a binky at this point. Warren is proven veteran--not much risk to keep him on the team if he's in shape. Weston's never done anything in the NFL, and his preseason performance thus far is not impressive.

Meanwhile, Reiss is saying that Weston's been invisible in camp after a strong start. Not what you want to hear about a DL.

Precisely.
The fanbois here need to realize that non-starters trying to make it as backups need to demonstrate some actual on field productivity, especially against soon-to-be Burger King employees.

I really liked Weston pre-draft too, but I'm sure you're not surprised. We always seem to be on the same page. Don't know if anything will ever come of Weston, but I thought he had tons of potential. He has a very rare combination of size and athleticism that I thought would allow him to play either DE spot or even NT in the 3-4. He's kind of similar to Wilfork in that way, although of course he's no where near that skill level. I'm hoping he makes the team and gets an opportunity to contribute.

Classy.

Unprovoked snide remarks are a pathetic substitute for defending your position.

You challenged him, and he answered the challenge.

Be a man and get over it.

Again: Snide remarks are no substitute for having a clue what you're talking about.

It amazes me how some folks take the time to post snide remarks, but don't take the time to post a single decent argument to support their snide remarks.

Evidently you haven't heard: The Patriots deploy a gap control Defense. Some players are paid ~ and paid well ~ to take on blocks and let the other guys "demonstrate some actual on field productivity."

If you'd actually watched last week's game, you would've seen Weston do just that...consistently.
