Merrill Hoge (ESPN) just picked his top 5 QBs. Here they are:

5. Aaron Rogers
4. Michael Vick

I know what you're thinking!

3. Tom Brady
2. Peyton Manning

You'd better sit down!

1. Ben Rothlesberger

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Merrill Hoge is an ex-Steeler

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Absurd that he has Manning ahead of Brady and Ben first.

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Then again it has been awhile since they won a playoff game.:(

Hoge isn't the brightest bulb on the tree.

they love smoking the weed in Pittsburgh:bricks::bricks:

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Controversial opinions = posted to lots of messageboards = a lot of clicks = greater ad revenue.

Its a simple formula.

One of the top 5 rapes "dogs' and one kills 'em...What a country!:bricks:

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Call me surprise that Vick is even in the top 5.I am not a big san diego fan but i would have Rivers over Vick anytime. The thing thats hurting Rivers is a crappy coach:D

Re: TOP 5 QBs

I can figure someone putting Manning above Brady. OK, I don't agree but it's reasonable. But Roethlisberger number one -- and no Brees? Come on!

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Yeah,Brees deserves to be in the top 5 and not Vick.I dont know why the love fest for Vick.

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Hahahahaha!

I wouldn't mind if Manning was 1, with Brady 2! (while I hate Manning, I cannot deny that he is a pretty good QB!)

But BR #1??? I would rather have Aaron Rogers, Phillip Rivers, Vick (and Im not a massive fan of him)!

Re: TOP 5 QBs

I applaud Hoge for the allegiance he shows to an organization of which he has not been a part of for nearly twenty years.

On a side note, if we're going to start a thread every time some member of the media says something that appears to be done solely for the purpose of stirring the pot to generate debate and controversy, then Ian may have to invest in additional server space very soon.

Re: TOP 5 QBs

I remember him having the Steelers as the #1 team in his power rankings during week 13 of the 2007 season when the Patriots were 12-0 at that point. Of course the Patriots went on to crush the Steelers 34-13 the following week.

Guy isn't an objective analyst at all, pretty embarrassing.

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Vick is a one trick pony..mark my words, when he gets injured, the Eagles will do better with Vince Young.

Re: TOP 5 QBs

I'm shocked it isn't Adrian Peterson.

Re: TOP 5 QBs

I applaud Hoge and the trials he has overcome in his life (Due to head trauma he had to learn to read again). But, maybe he's relapsing and needs to look at the last year of film?

Re: TOP 5 QBs

Hoge putting a Steeler number 1 on a list is about as common as the sun rising in the east. Not surprised by that. I AM surprised that he didn't put Brees on the list because that's flat out stupid.
