Wow, that's a huge statement. I'm hoping this has a similar motivating quality that losing to the Colts in the 2006 AFCCG had.

I am so glad to read this from our leader!!

When dumb fans like me still can't get over it, I can only imagine how it would have been the players, especially Brady who had to put up with unusual personal sh*t from Ryan and below-the-belt blows by some of the Jets players.

Hope we blow them away every single time we meet.

Another thing I love about TFB is the way he takes losses like that and the Jets in particular personally. Years ago Steve Nelson (former Pats LB, newbies) was talking on the radio about the Pats players' personal visceral hatred of the NYJ. Brady, normally quite vanilla in his comments, has stated more than once that he "hates the Jets". Sure, he rightfully complemented them on their superior play but in his unreasoning heart, he hates the Folkers.

I liked Ty Law and woulda gladly taken him back but it irked me to no end when still a Patriot during the Border Wars era he'd help Keshawn Johnson up, pat him on the butt and friendly chat with his Jets opponents during the game. Save the friendship for post game.

I'm not sure anything beats the SB loss to the Giants, being that we were held on that pass, no call, but that's another story, but last years loss to the jets in the playoffs made me Physically sick. I was having a bad day as it was, and that just topped it off!

Couple of things. 1) I think he respected that Giants team more after. especially after he gave them bulletin board material before the SB.

2) He realizes that if you let Mark Sanchez beat you, the problem was you and not the opposition.

Coming from a 2X League MVP and 3X SB winner, it's quite a comment to say that effectively the Pats played in that game like they didn't "understand what it takes to beat good teams under tough conditions."

His reference to preparation reminds me of Bob Kraft's remark after the loss, that (paraphrasing a bit because I don't have the exact quote in front of me) "there were a lot of things we didn't have, like a game plan."

I'm as baffled now as I was when I watched that game. The Jets were better prepared and out-coached and outplayed a team that in my mind and gut believe was far superior to them. I know the stock answer is "any given Sunday," but losing like that was and remains tough to swallow.

It being here, as he quantified it, made it more personal. I doubt he hated it more than 42.

The great thing about Brady is to this day he carries grudges, probably even for some jerk who beat him in a 3 legged race in 1st grade, and uses them like motivational tools.

A great motto for this team heading into the playoffs this season would be don't get mad, get even...

I too will never get over it...for purely financial reasons, of course...let me explain..

For once the usually annoying Solderking is even potentially right and next season is actually a time period they could/should target for the "loyal fan" early season ticket extension program (provided of course the Patriots continue to progress,aren't playing through any work related stoppages I'd be tempted to deal with legally once they got my money and they have no plans to persue interest on my payment in the off season...). They could tack 4 years on this deal later this year and take advantage of amortizing this deal to the max with a double dip money market account in December and single payout option note next March. Of course it takes two and I'd have to be willing to trade the potential for better seats possibly in sec 201 for the reality of becoming a multi-ticketed/seated fan in 2011 who is paid up until 2016...when I will be Bob Kraft's age. That might appeal to me since I'm already 57.

I wish someone will ask him what the heck he was sniffing before that game. He demonstratively took huge whiffs on the bench. Could have been some cold meds that makes you see things or feel druggy. .
He has a life long break from me in the sense that I will not criticize him because of what he has done, but he just had to know he laid an egg in that game. So I am in a way glad that game is still on his mind.

I can see where he's coming from.

SB42 defeat was a fluke, even though the Patriots were inexplicably flat that day.

2006 AFCG defeat to the Colts was due to Reche Caldwell and a lack of viable WR options, plus a 2nd half defensive meltdown in sauna-like conditions with piped-in crowd noise to boot.

But there are no excuses for last year's loss. Sanchize beat Brady. Ryan beat Belichick--it happens (but it shouldn't in a game that is that important).

To me, some of it was due to the psychological warfare that was waged prior to the game. Some of the Patriots (and most fans) jumped all over 'Shoe-gate,' and the Jets turned all the ridicule into motivation.

Hard to admit that a BB-coached team and Patriot fanbase would give the opponent such good bulletin board material.

You mean the 20-17 loss to end the 2010 pre-season? Yeah, that hurt a bit, but going 14-2 in the regular season made up for it.
