I don't know if it was the very long offseason because of the lockout or the excitement of this roster (or both) but I can't remember ever being more pumped up for a season to start.

On paper, we're loaded. We're so loaded in fact, this board has had debates on whether or not to trade Welker because the 3 WR set, with the best slot WR in the NFL, may not be our best offensive formation. Our weakness on defense, pass rush, may turn out to solid or even a strength based on who we have and the little we've seen and heard.

Every year is a challenge. By no means am I looking at this team and expecting things to be easy. A lot of things have to go right for us to win the divison again and hopefully get back to the Super Bowl. I just can't remember a time having less genuine worries about this team.

I was more pumped about 07..but this ranks up there...Pats are much better this year imo

I can't wait to see the 53 man roster and to get this party started. I'm dying to see if this defense is going to be what I think it can be.

im fired up for every season. I ******* love the Pats.

The lockout "adds" a lot for me : knowing football is back...

Not as convinced as everyone that the D is going to be fantastic - have more of an anxious "wait n see" attitude.

But if AH is pulling a Moss (there was talk in 07 of him getting cut) and teams with Vince to plow people, I'll quickly lump on the bandwagon.

Pumped.

after 2007, I was most excited for 2008. but that went downhill quick...

I'm not so pumped more curious to see how the defense performs and their alignments.

I'm always pumped!

I was probably most pumped in 2008. I was ready for the GFY tour to start again.

But yes, this year is shaping up to be pretty exciting. Shouldn't we get a prediction thread going or have I missed it?

You missed it...and the 15 versions after that one ;) The consensus was anywhere from 12-4 to 14-2, pretty standard.

Love the avatar, was at the game--definitely my most excited feeling of the entire yr in 2010.

FWIW--I was prolly most pumped in 2008 too, as 07 and 06 were both so close. (Now I have to go brush my teeth again, due to the awful taste left behind from thinking about it)

Was most pumped up in '03, the hangover from the first superbowl win was still fresh in my mind. My Pats Fandom had hit it's apex, and it was like heroin.. have always sought to find that moment again, but never found it.

Never forget the first day of practice at Bryant, and the team was doing windsprints across the field towards the stands.. there was Bruschi with the biggest smile imaginable.. it did not get any better than that..

'05 for me. First NFL team in history to 3 peat. Doh. 07 was real real close

2007 for me by far, especially coming off that devastating loss to the Colts.

Adding Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth and Adalius Thomas was overwhelmingly exciting, especially the prospect of seeing Tom Brady with elite weapons for the first time in his career.

Season far exceeded expectations, despite the horrific ending.

Funnily enough the acquisition of Stallworth was what excited me at the time in 2007 Disco. When the Pats traded for Moss, well.. you can imagine.

I'm dying for the season to start.

For those with questions on the defense, that's understandable. But the way I see it, this group would have improved significantly even without any changes made.

Young players like Chung, McCourty, Arrington, Spikes, Brace, Deaderick, and Cunningham would be better with a year of experience. Ninko would have a full year under his belt, and don't forget Mayo is only entering his 4th year. Plus Bodden returns. From the personal growth of the young guys alone, this defense should be much improved.

Then you add in Al, and Anderson looks really impressive so far, Carter has been destroying everyone in practice, and Ellis too?

And you add some really solid young running backs to the mix, return most of last year's OL, with the same stars of last year's #1 offense, plus Ocho?

:singing:

Im jacked and pumped.

You cant be more excited than that.

oh, this is unbearable... bring on the regular season already :rocker:

This is where I'm at as well. Trying to talk myself down off of it, but to no avail.

Same answer I give when people ask me my favorite meal.

...The next one. So, yeah, I'm excited about this team and all the potential they show.

this is very close to the 2007 pre-season feeling.:)

I'm fired up. The lock out meant we didnt hear anything about the Pats for so long.

No we're right into preseason and free agency.

I love that BB is stocking up on defense through FA. Moving to 43 is a smart move with the personnel we have.

and perhaps a strong run game this year as well
