Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

Sharper is a good player...how much he has left is the question...not sure on Hills play lately

Could be a way of feeling more comfortable trading Meriweather. Would like to have just re-signed Jarrad Page, though. Maybe just more due diligence.

holy **** bill is on a rampage

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

Apparently the Pats are loading up on guys that were really good in the 2004-2008 time period.

2004 - Shaun Ellis 11 sacks
2005 - Darren Sharper 9 picks
2006 - Mark Anderson 12 sacks
2007 - Andre Carter 10.5 sacks
2008 - Albert Haynesworth 8.5 sacks

This makes a lot of sense. There is not a lot of depth at the DB position, especially at safety.

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

This team went from being called an old team to last year being one of the youngest and now potentially back closer to the senior side again?

Every year is different for sure

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

I wouldn't mind Sharper on an one year veteran's deal. He is only one year removed from 9 INTs and 15 PDs. Granted he is 35 and coming off a significant injury last year.

Why not look at Deon Grant if they are looking at safeties though. Probably the best one still on the market.

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

i'm feeling it:)

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

Darren Sharper has the name, does he still have game??? Cant hurt to find out....

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

Sharper gave us a lot of trouble when the Saints laid a big good old fashioned whupping on us two years ago. He was consistently sitting on the quick slants and breaking them up pretty good.

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

Perhaps Sharper can still be a help in an attacking defense. If this team sits back for a read and react with Sharpe, though, I'm thinking :bricks:

He's 35, but I like his hard hitting and his attitude. He could be another leader for the defense too.

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

I think I actually prefer Hill to Sharper. He's started all but two games over the past 3 seasons, and while not as flashy, he's the better overall player right now, in my opinion. And if Bill is looking to replace Meriweather, then consistent is what he wants.

Re: Sharper and Hill Coming in Too

Merriweather- what sort of pick do you think we could get for him? We could also add some of our future PS players if we know that team has a need @ a certain position to sweeten deal. Hell vwe could even add tate:cool:

what would Merry get us straight up?

makes sense to cash in on a 1 year dude

Before the lockout, I would've said a 3rd. But if Bill really wants to replace him that much, then probably a 4th.

A 3 would be :) a 4 thou??? not to thrilled about a 4th. Who are some desperate DB teams? plz say Al Davis:p Aso is gone and he would be a far cheaper option than he was.

A 4 does not impress me. BM is overrated in my book, but he is a solid body to help our depth. I rather keep him if it is indeed a 4th the dude can still play, just lapses in zone coverage

I don't see either of these as potential replacements for Meriweather.

Maybe a depth signing, but still not all that keen on either.
