1. Two full years in the system
2. Pats paid him extra when he was on the practice squad to keep him from going to another team
3. Good Size : 6'3" , 303
4. Very intelligent, highest score on Wonderlic for D-lineman in his draft class & Finalist for NCAA "Draddy Trophy" for student athletes.
5. Hard worker: Last to leave practice this week. Stayed 45 minutes after the end of practice to receive lessons from vets Shaun Ellis & Gerard Warren.
6. Started in the Pats first preseason game v. Jags and had (2) sacks and one batted down pass.

What are his chances ( % ) of making the 53 man roster ? FWIW, I'll give him a 50 - 50 chance.

I think he and Landon Cohen have a very strong chance to make the team if they continue to play at the level they did on on Thursday. Could be bad news for Brace and Deaderick, even though I'd still like to give both a chance.

Richard and Love> Brace and Deaderick

Richard and Love> Brace and Deaderick

Considering the latter two are both on PUP, of course. Brace has more talent than either of the first two, although Deaderick is likely gone, in my opinion.

Hard to see him making the team right now.

IMO 16 will be kept for the front 7 positions (9 for the DB's), my grouping so far.

This group are 'locks' IMO:

Spikes, Brandon
Guyton, Gary
Mayo, Jerod
Fletcher, Dane
Cunningham, Jermaine
Ninkovich, Rob
Wilfork, Vince
Haynesworth, Albert

8 from this list:

Probable:

Wright, Mike
Ellis, Shaun
Love, Kyle
Pryor, Myron
White, Tracy

Pryor according to camp reports has been a beast.

Wright based on returning from pre concussion form.

Love based on his work against the Jags #1 group, drawing consistent double teams

White as one of the best ST players.

Ellis based on his play the last time I saw him.

Bubble:
Carter, Andre
Anderson, Mark
Moore, Eric
Warren, Gerard

Moore performed well in game situations last year played well in last weeks game.

Anderson good as sub package pass rusher.

Warren performed well last year can fill multiple roles on line.

Carter track record as edge pass rusher, good reports from camp.

Outside looking in:

Deaderick, Brandon
Brace, Ron
Weston, Kade
Richard, Darryl
Cohen, Landon
Weston, Kade
Silvestro, Alex

Deaderick, some off the field and work ethic issues.

Brace, lots of injuries and conditioning issues.

Weston & Richard, caught in numbers game Love has been better so far.

Cohen showed promise but not good enough.

Silvestro, Tarpinian, m Carter PS bound?

Assessing the DL will be the most interesting part of the next 2 preseason games.

This of course doesn't include injury, How the staff views the balance between vets/young players. Out side the locks the list will be fluid. Which players could go on PS due to upside/progress.

Assuming that Ellis, Brace & Deaderick get off PUP of course.

There is no way Darryl Richard makes this team

Disclaimer: I'm currently unsure of the d-linemen who'll actually make the team, including Darryl Richard, but was stunned that this line hadn't yet been used in the thread.

Of course he does. Along with the other 60 that should. Oh wait.... Damn 53 man roster....

So give Richard one spot, and tell us who the other 52 are.

Who do you leave off? That's the reAl question.

I'd elevate Moore to "probable" status. He's shown nothing but good performances since we signed him.

He's still presumably the 4th best DE on the team behind Ellis, Carter, and Anderson. And Cunningham would get spot #4 based on potential.

That is the issue with Moore as a 'probable', Cunningham looked good in the game against the Jags #1's in spite of what I hear about problems in drills. Anderson could be a real force in sub packages.

Are Carter and Anderson vying for 1 DE sub package spot? Moore was OK against the run last year.

I can't wait to go thought the next 2 preseason games in detail, even the 4th game may have implications for the Bubble crew this year.

Hard to see Richard breaking through the log jam.

Anderson and Moore are now better than Cunnigham?

Watching the first half of the DL who played the ones who looked the best were: Love. Moore, Cunningham and Anderson.

Anderson will IMO be used as a pass rushing specialist. Cunningham and Moore did a good job against both the run and the pass.

Love drew a double team on almost every play and did a good job holding his ground.

Couldn't Anderson be starting, or at least playing the majority of the game at DE against passing teams without a strong running game? I think that's how he'll be used if he's as good a player as he played Thursday.

We play sub packages a lot so plenty of snaps for all the DE's A Carter, Cunningham, Moore and Anderson I presume Ellis will be part of that rotation. With big men it is good to have depth so they don't wear down.

The inside guys right now if I were making the roster up would be Wilfolk, Haynesworth, Love, Pryor and either Wright or Warren.

That would be 10 DL, If we count Cunningham as a OLB due to his ability to play without his hand on the ground that could leave room for 1 more DL.

As 4-man line DE, yes Anderson is. Moore vs Cunningham is irrelevant to me because as said, Cunningham is basically a lock based on his potential and draft status.

I wouldn't bet on it.

I would say a minor chance if others fall

I think so for now...

Has Cunningham looked good in TC? Jermaine has the higher potential over Anderson and moore... but look @ the Vernon Gholston's of the world that had the same if not better potential. What about Crable the FABLE to he had very high potential. I think Jermaine almost fits right into that category. IDK yet, but I am playing for this year if he is gone he can be replaced next year w/ a round 1 stud:) just my 2 cents

Anderson is very good at penetrating, Based on what I have seen he isn't as good against the run. That may change in subsequent games but that is what I saw.

I strenuously disagree, and I think you will see that BB does as well.
