Supposedly he said he was going to sit out a year to let his leg heal properly. Can anybody tell me - can he just be signed or does he have to re-enter the draft?

Will be signable in a year. Can't see him getting drafted next year anyway.

He was eligible and went undrafted in this years draft so he is a free agent and should be able to sign with anyone at any point.

Hope he heals up soon. His career is in jeopardy right now. Excellent player when healthy. He's a steady centerfielder with a major knack for playmaking. I like him a lot.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the help!

I have to think that if there was even a small chance that this guy could get healthy and become a good NFL player that at least one of the 32 teams would've signed him and put him on IR by now. His physical eval must have been dreadful.

I believe teams made offers to him, but he decided we would rather get healthy before commiting to a team. I can kind of see where he is coming from, because he won't play this season and who knows how teams situations could change in the next year. Saying that I would have loved for the Pats to use a late round pick on him and get him into the system for the year he is on IR. Oh well, hopefully he gets healthy and the Pats take a look at him, because he had a ton of talent before he got hurt.

That does put things in a different light. Thanks.

In an interview just the other day, Duenta said he was happy to be able to walk and if he ever healed up completely he might then think about playing again. Didn't sound like he believed he'd ever play again and with a fractured fibula, tore ligaments and nerve damage, he most likely never will. Tough brake, sounded like a nice young man.
