This probably would've gotten more play if it weren't the morning after the first preseason game, but what the heck...Is anyone listening to the rap battles on 98.5 between the various hosts? I gotta give it to this station for being incredibly creative and always doing something different (WEEI, take notice).

They aired a Felger vs. Gresh battle this morning which was quite epic. Even if you hate either or both of them - or maybe especially if you hate either or both of them - check the 98.5 page at some point today for a listen. It's worth while. Gotta give the two credit.

Cannot stand Merloni and Munanski, they are trying to sound like football intelligentia, but fail miserably. They sound like they just discovered the Patriots and the NFL and this is their rookie year. They tried to become Bruins, NHL smart and failed miserably.

But even worse is listening to Gresch and Zo... they bring pain to my ears.

Tough choices, shytty and shyttier...

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

How do people listen to that garbage of a morning sports radio show? It's not even a sports radio show. It's frat hour. I can't stand it.

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

Other than Zolak...The station is unlistenable.

Their formula is for simpletons: "We're gonna say negative stuff about Boston sports teams and athlete's....it'll piss people off...and they will listen and call us."

I want to listen to genuine talk....and you knw what else.....I'M A GUY WHO LIKES HOMERS LIKE JACK EDWARDS AND JOHNNIE MOST. There's enough people in the national media and Opposing franchises cutting us down...

It's pretty juvenile at times (Toucher and Rich) but they are entertaining at other times as well. Overall, the show has a lot of creative bits - the Jack Edwards raps, Naughty Maz, all the games they play. They might be childish at times, but it can be entertaining. And creative. Toucher & Rich both have skill. Sometimes they misuse it, but at least they are good at what they do.

At the very least, it's beats the pathetic offerings of WEEI who can neither talk sports, politics or be funny. I wonder if Brady will continue to team up with WEEI on Monday Mornings given the show's alliance with "El Presidente", the idiot site runner of barstoolsports who recently had one of the more egregious violations of Brady and his family's privacy.

I heard Dale Arnold say this morningthat WEEI has severed its ties to that individual (not Brady.)

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

I love Toucher and Rich and the lightheartedness that they bring to sports in this town. If anything they are the total opposite of the Borges/Felgers that try to tear down the players and teams. The back and forth that they have with Merriwether for instance is fantastic.

And I especially love the Rap battle skits they are doing now. I missed this mornings so I'll have to go to the site and check it out.

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

98.5 officially has my least favorite host/guest in Jermaine Wiggins. For a guy who spent seven years in the league, it is shocking how little he actually knows about football. He said the Pats never played a 4-3 base under Belichick eventhough they played a 4-3 base one of the years he played for the Pats. He thinks that the only defensive system that plays an one gap is the Tampa 2 and that the one gap and Tampa 2 are synonomous (I wonder if he would be shocked to know there are several teams running an one gap 3-4 defense).

Sorry to get off topic, but this guy is horrible yet the station seems to want to give this guy more and more air time. I think he deserves less and less.

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

According to the last Ratings release, WEEI is getting it's ass kicked. And deservingly so...

Toucher and Rich are awesome. And the rap Battles have been hysterical.

Mazz killed it with his. :rotfl:

Good, maybe the moron will learn a lesson in consequence. Unfortunately given the imbecile demographic that both stations and the blogger pander to will probably result in him not getting what he really deserves to have severed...

I agree with all of this.

Today's rap battles were truly hysterical.

WEEI has met its competition with arrogance and dismissal. I used to listen to EEI every day and had no real problem with it - until given an alternative. Now it feels like EEI is grasping and trying too hard.

Look no further than the allegiance with El Presidente as a misguided effort to win back some of the 98.5 demo. The programming on WEEI has just truly been terrible the last few months and it feels like the better 98.5 fares in the ratings, the worse product WEEI offers up.

Holley is the only redeeming quality to WEEI. 98.5 may have irritating hosts, but the shows are excellently run, the producers know their craft, and they bring fresh ideas to the table.

You know the Big Show was actually listenable a week ago when it was Holley with Troy Brown and Tedy Bruschi and Holley and Tom E Curran. When is WEEI going to bite the bullet and buy out the rest of Ordway's contract or figure out a way to fire him outright? He is definitely stuck in a different era of radio.

WEEI really destroyed their line up by giving Holley the afternoon gig (they didn't have a choice) and putting Mutt and Merloni on middays. Their ratings have really reflected the stupid move. The Big Show was already losing Felger and Mazz, but Dale and Holley were holding off Gresh and Zo. The Big Show will never overtake Felger and Mazz with Ordway there and Mutt and Merloni are just awful.

WEEI needs a shake up. The first move should be to dump Ordway and give Holley a rotating guess and no more than two at a time. They need to replace Mutt and Merloni with anyone. I would even like to see Pete Sheppard back middays than them.

I agree. Ordway seems like a nice enough guy - but his shtick is so tired.

Petey ran the show well when he was given the chance. M&M are just awful, but so are Gresh & Zo. I can listen to Felger's crap but Mazz is so painful to listen to, I want to stop breathing to end it all. The morning guys on both stations are nothing special.

They do not bring lightheartedness to sports because it's not about sports. Seriously, Toucher and Rich are about as knowledgeable about sports as the dead squirrel I passed by on my morning commute to work this morning. The back and forth with Merriweather is absurd and just shows you what an idiot Bradon is. They are laughing AT him, not with him. They know nothing about Football, Baseball, basketball, etc. Nothing.

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

a rap battle?

is that like when two sub 40 IQ uneducated street thugs toss insults back and forth while bragging about all the wimmens they "sexed" up...backed up by the same lameazzed drum samples that infect every single cut made in the past ten years?

imitating murderous psychopathic Crip and Blood wannabes is so past tense...but then, how would a timewarped Gresh ever know...you know we've jumped the shark when a Gresh goes "gangsta".

You're just biased because Holley let you on the Big Show to kiss Troy Brown's arse. :singing:

Im cool with that.

I know enough about sports, I dont need their takes.

The show gets the job done in the entertainment department. And that's what I want out of my morning show.

I know that it's not for everyone, but it's right up my alley.

Re: OT: Show host rap battles on 98.5

Holley hates me.

Can't win 'em all...

Oh is he ever, he a such a smarmy, creepy little twerp. All he does is parrot what Felger says, knows next to nothing about sports and may be the single most negative person alive, all that delivered by Micky Mouse's voice going though puberty, it's like a thousand nails on a chalkboard. He annoys in so many ways. He offends the senses of sight and sound.

Felger's shtick is getting old also.

I don't bother with EEI and now only occasionally listen to 98.5, I just can't stand Maz.
