In my opinion he was always going to make the team. What he proved today was that he is an actual viable option at MLB if:

A: any injuries occur to the LB core

B: Spikes isn't in very good form/is still hampered by injury

You have to give it up to any UDFA that makes the roster and just continues to improve I see a shirt with no. 52 in my future.

I don't think he gets to wear the green dot yesterday if there was any chance at all that he wasn't going to make the roster.

Fletcher, to me, is one of those players that was the best at every level at which he played, and is just "a football player". His vision, his football sense, along with a skill-set that is hard to match.

I always looked at Bruschi that way. Fletcher will not be simply depth. The kid will be a playmaker on D, IMHO. They'll be able to bring him, and he will get through more than he doesn't.

For us old guys, I'd have to say he's a Steve Nelson clone. I think he's not as big as Johnson, more Nelson's size.

Nelson against Czonka was always one of my favorite match-ups. They always looked like they had been in a cage match after the game.

Mud, blood, bandages and torn shirts. Gotta love it !

In BB's stock 3-4, it may mean Fletcher and Spikes in the middle and Mayo & Cunninham staying at OLB. (I picked Fletcher as "most pleasant surprise" along with Arrington)

He had good hustle out there and was always around the ball carrier in the first half. A good showing, hopefully he can keep in up.

Fletcher's looking pretty good, that's for sure. He's great against the run with his ability to disengage and recognition. That d-line experience shows. Still shows great closing burst and good angles, although I would have liked to see him playing normal run techniques more. They sent him quite a bit.

In the passing game you can see pretty clearly that he needs more snaps. He was thinking through his assignments instead of settling hinto his zone and just reacting. You could tell the multiplayer crossing routes confused him and made him want to run with someone. Cost him a few shots and picks or deflections. Not a bad thing, just an experience issue.

Guyton, OTOH looked horrible against 2nd teamers. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the bubble or relegated to special teams.

I had Fletcher as my #3 ILB heading into camp. Given the astonishing progress he made as a rookie, going straight from small-conference DL to NFL ILB, he seemed a lock.

Then when he started wearing that green dot in camp, it was an absolute certainly. That's a lot confidence to show in the knowledge, intelligence and leadership of a kid who's still just learning to be a linebacker.

He did a good job calling signals for the first time as well. That seemed to go without a hitch. Good to know he can do this when needed. I remember this being a problem for the jesters when Leonhard went down last year just before the 45-3 slaughter.

All around, a nice game from him last night.

No way in hell Mayo plays 3-4 OLB. 4-3 Will or Sam..sure.

Hard work pays off. I remember reading that Fletcher was one of the very first to enter the grounds and one of the last to leave practice, every day. Good ole Montana boy

Fletcher last night reminded me of Junior Seau -- fake blitzing, quick moves, etc. We can only hope he keeps it going.
