Good! The bonus is now the Pats should have more cap room to sign six or seven more defensive linemen.

Monetary guess on Mankins' six-year deal w/ #Patriots: $48.5 million with $21 million guaranteed.

I like those #'s, great news if true. Considering the market today, and elite interior lineman for $8M/year is a great deal for us.

Really happy with this signing. Mankins defines the line- he is the heart and spirit of it.

You know when Robert Kraft said that he 'expected a deal to be done soon' earlier today, I had no idea that he literally meant in a couple of hours.

I'm absolutely loving this offseason so far. Definitely one of our bests.

I need to take a cold shower.

...and put the final touches on the 9-1-1 defense!

Remember to conserve water. You and Off the Grid can share. :p

Sorry, OTG has a roommate now (Ochocinco) and wouldn't want to make him jealous.

Best news today! So glad we got him signed up before the season started!

Hallaluja! Just what Solder needs for the next many years. I see a bright future for NEP O-line. Play action never looked so good!

P.S. Now pleez just draft the best center in next years draft.

I am so HAPPY!!!

to all you cap gurus that say G is not a value position... clueless. You Exten the best GUARD in the land b/c you need to BEEF up that line fir Tom (F ucking) Brady. Brady is the Franchise we must protect him the best way possible and I am glad our FO knows what the4 hell it is doing. TFB is on his last contract as a Patriot. We must win w/ the best QB in the land during his deal.

Tom Brady will be Protected by an elite line for the next 4-5 yrs AT THE LEAST. Mankins just signed a 6 year deal

Solder--Mankins--(?)--Cannon--Vollmer for the next 5 years. Cannon is recovered from chemotherapy and will play next year as a Guard

The PATRIOT Offensive Line
Mankins: 6-4 310
Vollmer: 6-8 315
Solder: 6-8 319
Cannon: 6-5 358

I CHALLENGE Any DEFENSE to handle this ELITE LINE. Cannon is out. so Connolly will be playing this season

very good news the pats now have there best OL men locked up for 6 years, good job Mr Kraft

I'm glad it finally got done. Center needs to be a top priority next year.

I like those numbers. More per-year than Jahri Evans got, and a full $1M per year over what the Pats offered him last year, but less guaranteed. If you believe that Mankins is the best guard in the league (I do), then that seems like a pretty fair deal.

Yeah it is, and it will only go up as the salary cap ramps up in 2014 and onward.

Does this mean Mankin's eyesight is back to normal now?

Kidding aside, the attitude he brings hopefully rubs off on the younger guys, especially the rookies.

Greatest move this offseason.

Well done front office. This has been one of the most exciting offseasons despite the lockout. Wow. :D:D:D:D
