Multiple tweets indicating long term deal coming for Mankins that will make him a Patriot for "life."

Guys on 98.5 are quoting R Kraft as saying this could be done soon. Excellent.

About time. Now we won't have to talk about Mankins contract for awhile until someone makes a Mankins will be cut thread tomorrow.

Omg i almost nutted my pants!

YEESSSSSS. :rocker:

That will generate some cap room, as he comes off the 1 year franchise tag with a full cap charge to a multiyear deal with a big bonus prorated over the entire contract.

EXCELLENT!

Great news!

May his nasty ways be forever contagious among the offensive linemen. :D

Awesome news! Mankins, Vollmer, Solder and Cannon has the potential to be a devastating line for years to come.

please bob make this happen!
still nervous until they make it official!

Good to hear. Although I do think this team could survive his loss, but he is one of the two best guards in the league and does bring an attitude to the offense.

Mankins: 6-4, 310
Vollmer: 6-8 315
Solder: 6-8 319
Cannon: 6-5 358

Mankins: "The little guy"!

Lifetime contract. I like it. What's the average life expectancy for a guard, around 65 years?

Beyond just the he's-the-best-guard-in-football discussion, this could be very good for the franchise. Took a disgruntled-with-his-contract player and reached a constructive compromise agreement. It could demonstrate the respect players have for the family.

For Logan, our apologies, but you may never see this thing called free agency.

His $10M cap hit this year gets smaller, and cap space is opened up.........I think.

That..... is awesome!!!

Solder-Mankins-Cannon-Vollmer has the potential to be an amazing group for years to come.

One interesting point: I'm not saying the Patriots will or should do so, but if they feel they can afford to carry a lot of that hit this year, they may well do so, in order to reduce the cap hit in future years.
