Ranked TC roster, per Greg Bedard

Couple of things jump out..

The Guyton experiment may be coming to an end..

Hernandez has been working out with the WR position players..

Still have no clue what he is going to do with all these D linemen.

This is a kind of fascinating format: listing the full TC roster, not projecting a 53, but apparently listing the players at each position in order of where he thinks they stand. (He assumes a 4-3 defense.)

To me, the real eyebrow raiser is Taylor Price, who he lists as the 8th WR -- behind not just Tate and Slater, but Darnell Jenkins.

Oops wrong thing.

Is it supposed to be ordered like that? Carson Butler higher than Lee Smith and Yeatman?

Honestly, I'm not certain. But it's clearly in SOME order which corresponds roughly to a depth chart.

Maybe it's jut the order he thought of them? It would have been nice if he actually told us!

what do you mean, he is the fastest LB we have and someone who can cover scat backs and TE`s off the line. He has a huge wingspan and good hands. look at the intercepts he had for pick 6 last year. I am confused. non of our other LB have his speed and range and is the perfect Nickel LB we have had. He is way faster than spikes ,flecter or other guys.

with the fattys in the DL i think you will have Mayo and Guyton in there more as the fattys take care of the other fattys on the OL freeing your LB to run in open space. In that case why would you put spikes who is slower, flecter who is a DL in there in space instead of your fastest guy who can run.

Definitely not ranked.

No? Here's the offense you'd get by plucking the first listed players at each position (not counting PUP):

Tom Brady
BenJarvus Green-Ellis
Deion Branch
Wes Welker
Rob Gronkowski
Aaron Hernandez
Sebastian Vollmer
Nate Solder
Dan Koppen
Logan Mankins
Dan Connolly

If that's not a depth chart, it's an astonishing coincidence. ;)

Who would be KR?

With the rule change, I can't see how you keep a roster spot for what's basically your 7th receiver (behind Hernandez) to return kicks. Edelman, Price, whoever.

Let's give Bedard more credit than that.
Morris over Faulk?
Wilhite over Butler?
Tate 4th?
Price behind Jenkins and Slater?
Butler ahead of lee smith?
Moore, cunninham and Anderson over Carter?

No way.

I already said I'm not sure if it's his projection because he doesn't say. What we do know is that it's very far from random. Maybe it could be a representation of what he's seen in practice so far in terms of who gets which reps?

Good, so we agree that it's not a ranked depth chart then.

Nor is it ranked by reps in camp, as we can see by Light being at the top spot.

Good point. So then, if it's not a depth chart what the heck is it??? Bedard has to know that it will be read as a depth chart, since it largely corresponds to the expected pecking order.

Guys, it's not a depth chart. Starters might be right, but after that it's in no order at all. Mostly how easy it is for me to swap out players with all the transactions.

I will be coming out with my first 53 on Thursday before the Jaguars game.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate it.

And if you have any thoughts on anything, don't be afraid to drop me a line at [email protected].

Good, bad or ugly, I welcome the feedback.

OK, thanks for the clarification! (Maybe alphabetical order next time? ;))

I take it as a list of 90 guys, nothing more. Maybe at some point 6 months ago it was a ranked list that he's been copy/pasting into randomly for the last two weeks.

Well, that certainly clears things up. I wish the Internet always cooperated like that.
