Pats worked out Channing Crowder

I'd almost rather have this Channing:

This defense needs a guy like Bart Scott. Loud mouth, brash, intense, physical, chip on shoulder, swagger. Crowder is that type of guy.

As great a player as Jerod Mayo is, you don't want all your LB's to be calm, cool, and collective like he is. You need some angry SOB's who want to run through a wall and blow up blocking schemes.

This guy has always liked to talk, but I've always liked the way he played. I'd take him. I think he'd add more talent to our LB corps. He's only 27 years old and he's got some talent.

This defense has been far too "quiet/cerebral" the past few years. We haven't really had anyone like Rodney Harrison or Lawyer Milloy who is a "wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve" type of emotional player. He's not of the same talent level of Rodney Harrison, but I do think he would make this LB corps.

Crowder's not a very good player, and he's already showing signs of decline, especially against the run.

I'm not so sure that I'm ready to write him off yet. He's been dogged by some injuries in recent years, but he's only 27. I'm still not ready to write guys like him or Merriman off just because they've had a few below average years due to injuries.

I think he's worth a shot on a one year deal. Our LB corps is still fairly thin/weak, and I think if he's healthy he could be an upgrade over Guyton/Fletcher and could push Spikes too.

I'd rather see the Pats take a shot on Tatupu, but if he's too rich for their blood, a cheap low risk deal for Crowder is something I'd like to see.

I know a lot of fans here hate him and can't stand that he runs his mouth and plays/talks with a sense of arrogance, but I kind of like that about him. I wish this team had more guys like Bart Scott, who play with a huge chip on their shoulder and would run through a wall for their coach.

I'll take Channing Crowder on the Pats in a second. He's at least as good as as any other linebacker on this team not named Mayo. Plus, as some others have said, he's intense and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Maybe if the defense had a chip on it's shoulder it wouldn't have gotten walked all over by the NYJ on January 15, 2011 in their home stadium....

I'm not talking the guy down because I hate him. I've never been a fan of his game, and he's in decline. Go check some dolphins forums. Go check his numbers. He's just not the player you seem to think he is, IMO, and a lot of Dolphins fans have been pointing this out since at least 2008.

Don't worry guys. Working out free agents this year has practically guaranteed that they'll sign elsewhere. ;)

Guess we will see. I always felt he was a pretty solid player who brought intensity to a defense.

Do you think NE needs another LB, or are you okay with Mayo/Spikes/Guyton/Fletcher? I think we could use another established veteran in there like Crowder or Tatupu, as well as an edge rusher.

I always viewed him as being Joey Porter's lapdog.

They already have Brandon Spikes. A guy who attempted to gouge the eyes of one Georgia RB and had to be pulled away from another one.

Yes, I love that about Spikes. I want more guys like that. This team needs another LB. Spikes is good player and a promising kid -- love the way he plays -- but he has some deficiencies. He's pretty slow for an NFL LB. You wonder if he's ever going to be playmaker in the NFL like he was in college due to that lack of range/speed and tightness in his hips. He makes up for a lot of that with his instincts, grit, toughness, intensity, and swagger, but I still would like to see this team add another LB.

I prefer a healthy Tatupu, but I'd also take a look at Crowder.

Who are the guys out there you would like to see brought in? Do you like Tatupu if he's healthy?

LOL, Pat fans don't want this guy? C'mon. Using his stats from his Dolphin days is useless. He's been shorhanded by pisspoor management. Kick the tires, see if they smoke. Hey, Tedy Bruschi aint walking through that door. I want him on the Pats, because we need a guy ready to prove he belongs. And, he's more than a little bit crazy. I like that.

The reason he can no longer hold up against the run is because of the Dolphins management?

Interesting theory. Please explain ...

crowder's a comedian

i hope sd gets him if NE doesn't

Please meet Mr. Brandon Spikes.

Brandon Spikes plays with heart and passion, and it is obvious once you watch him play. He is a violent hitter who plays an aggressive style of football. He has a rare ability of reading plays exceptionally well, which is extremely valuable in the NFL as a rookie. He is very aggressive in the running game, almost to a point where it hurts him. He needs to work on not being too aggressive as to where he outruns the play.

Crowdah won't be tasting the Chowdah here in NE

Re: Patriots gave Channing Crowder a physical on thursday.

Per Clayton twitter.

This guy is a bum. I live in S. FL and have watched this guy (when he is actually on the field) more than I would care to.....he is marginal at best when he is healthy. He is made of glass and gets injured when the wind blows too hard.......PASS!!!!!

F that...do not want
