Patriots Re-Sign BenJarvus Green-Ellis
By: Ian Logue

Patriots fans got some good news on Wednesday afternoon, with the team announcing the re-signing of runningback BenJarvus Green-Ellis....

Yes! The Law Firm is BACK!

Not a fan of him really. But welcome back. He gets the job done for the most part.

Good for him. He earned it.

Love the Law Firm- just a great success story. I hope he goes for 1400 this year and 15 TD's.

how are you not a fan? Were you on the LoMo bandwagon by anychance?:bricks:

Some people just don't like a player if he isn't flashy, I guess. Personally, I love the guy for what he was able to accomplish.

I cannot abide Hyphenators. :snob:

And I would've preferred a 2nd Rounder.

But my God do we have RIDICULOUS Depth of Talent in the BackField, now!! :rocker:

I think it's possible for someone to take the view that they respect and are grateful for BJGE's contributions to the team but also feel that he's still not a "Number 1 RB," without having been an apologist for the LoMo bandwagon, aka trainwreck.

Yes, yes he certainly did. I remember the debates of the past 2 offseasons that he wouldn't even make the team, and IF he did, he'd never even be active on gameday etc.

I have a tremendous amt of respect for him, and there are a lot of good things about the player. He scored a ton of TD's, and was the only player in the NFL (I believe) that had over 1,000 yds with as many TD's and no fumbles.

However, just as OTG and PFS74 have said--there are still limitations on what he can offer. Some think that he just is not quick enough, and that we need more of a home-run hitter. I prefer the more bruising types personally, and feel as long as he does his job where asked, he will have a role on this team one way or another.

No matter what, everyone can/should appreciate the underdog story, and hard work that he has accomplished though.

All of this, and he has never fumbled.. in college or the NFL, he claims high school but that cannot be verified.

Imagine when it finally happens, Darryl ;)

I'm going to feel so bad for the kid.

If there's anyone who uses a "don't beat yourselves" philosophy and appreciates someone holding onto the ball at such a high importance--it's certainly Bill Belichick. Just the fact that he doesn't put in on the ground, and has obviously worked so hard HAS to mean a lot to the coach.

That's why I don't necessarily assume that he will be gone after this yr, like many others do. I love the youth and depth at the position now. I love the draft picks etc. But I'm not going to assume that BJGE's job as lead carrier is in jeopardy quite yet, at least not this year. I think that no matter what, moving forward, there is a spot on this team for him--whereas many feel that he will now be replaced by the potential of a rookie who needs to earn that spot, and that right.
