Let me add that really think a lot of our good fortune in the draft as of late is because of Floyd Reese....

I was under the impression that Floyd Reese primarily worked on contract negotiations and cap and budget numbers, while Nick Caserio primarily focused on player evaluations, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

Anyway, so now Denver has a pretty good starting QB who they've tried to get rid of, and a backup who they've tried to hand the keys of the kingdom to but who is looking inept. That always makes for a cozy locker room.

Next offseason: ship out Brian Hoyer for Tebow and a second/third?

Orton, an experienced veteran, is doing well. The new regime has no loyalty to Tebow. It's not a shock that Orton is the #1 QB at this point, since he wasn't traded. It would have been a shock if he weren't.

Given the way its schedule falls, Denver will need to win early or it will be out of the race in a hurry this year, and Tebow will take over.

It's not a shock if you hold the position that Orton is better than Tebow to begin with.

I dont think Tebow has the talent to play in the NFL. His arm is not very strong, he has a slow release, and isn't really all that accurate. As nice as a guy he is and you know he would do whatever it takes to win, he just doesn't have the mechanics to get it done.

The mechanics for a jab are different from those of an uppercut, each can be learned, there is NO reason why Tebow cannot adjust his motions to improve his mechanical efficiency. Plenty of people improve their golf swing, at the end of the day it's all just power generation.

The point of this, for the 2012 season, is to BUY LOW and SELL HIGH! It would require some out of the box thinking and testicular fortitude, trading for a flawed player that Denver has written off, but payout could be awesome. A mechanically sound Tebow is a GM's dream, Denver doesnt know how to run a team, we do.

Root for Orton, pray for incompetence from Denver, and let BB pull off another low risk/high reward personnel master stroke in the making.

They've been trying to fix his throwing motion since highschool. There's more reason to think they won't be able to change it, than they will.

You may be correct, although I always thought he had garnered a reputation as a great talent evaluator. That's why I was pretty happy he came on board.

I don't think going after Tebow would be worth the effort, never mind what the pats would have to give up. However, if the price is right and BB really thought he and his staff could do some serious polishing, then maybe it would be with a shot I suppose. Don't like the idea of him taking up a valuable roster spot either.

Pretty much. I don't think anyone reasonably could have expected Tebow to be ready by opening week 2011. He was a project in every sense of the word. Which makes drafting him where the Broncos did a ridiculous reach, granted, but that's not really the point either.

If Tebow's stock is plummeting, it's only because the bubble burst after a ton of undue inflation. He still has jut as much potential to turn into a good player as he did when the media was fawning over him.

Absolutely...the potential of a later-round pick who has tons of athleticism and intangibles but questionable NFL skills at his college QB position. Some of those guys get converted to other positions, like Julian Edelman. Some get a chance to stick at QB, like Joe Webb.

But here you have one who got a year of coaching up at QB and, based on the reports available, hasn't shown major progress fixing his lousy college fundamentals. If he hadn't been a 1st-round pick, wouldn't he be training at tight end right now?

Vrable was never a FAILURE at Pitt. He was 5th LB in a great LBing team. He never got the reps there to show he was better than some of the others and/or he was better utilized here. We just paid more than Pitt was willing and gave him more PT than Pitt was willing.

The Broncos are a mess - mostly but not all because of McDaniels.

They planned all offseason to trade Orton and get some value for the journeyman QB who is in the last year of his deal. They would then let Tebow play, see what he could do, then make an informed decision after the year about if he could be their future QB. It made sense for a team in rebuilding mode with little hope of even being a 500 team.

Then the front office didn't deal Orton before camp, trying to squeeze the Dolphins for a better deal. They created a major problem for themselves. When practices started it was crystal clear to everyone Tebow had no business being a starting QB. You had veteran players openly saying they needed to keep Orton. Brandon Lloyd, the teams best offensive player (that speaks volumes about the lack of talent on the team) essentially mocked Tebow as a creation of hype. If the Broncos moved Orton now or made him Tebow's back-up they are going to a player revolt . Fox can't afford that since he probably doesn't ever get another chance to be a head coach if he is one and done in Denver.

This is probably a good example of why you hire talented front office people, not legendary ex-players to run your franchise.

I'd say the oppposite, it's because he was a 1st round pick that people have much higher expectations, everyone knew he was a project, that would seem to imply that you're not going to have a finished product after a single season. If he was a 6th-7th round pick most teams would be fine with him working on his fundamentals and holding a clipboard.

Regarding his fundamentals, I seriously cannot figure out why college QBs that have NFL aspirations wouldnt train with Tom Martinez in the offseason. That ship has kinda sailed at this point due to his failing health, but why wouldnt one try to improve their fundamentals as soon as possible? Also, I think a player's stock would get an automatic increase simply because they showed the initiative and intelligence to train with the guy who tutored the best QB in the game.

If he's still around and kicking in 2012, after we complete the Hoyer/Tebow +2nd trade, I'd send Tebow to work extensively with Martinez.

If Tebow truly does struggle with accuracy as much as Hoge struggles with spelling, grammar and punctuation, then his NFL career will be shorter than the last Heisman winning quarterback from U of Florida's was (Danny Weurfel).
