How did the Phins get the audiotape?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this issue, but I don't see how the Phins could have gotten an audiotape of Brady's playcalling, unless they brought in sophisticated equipment when they played us earlier in the year or they bought it from a team that had the equipment.

Let's face it, how do you pick up audio signals from a team that's moving up and down the field and is subjected to friendly or unfriendly crowd noise? Perhaps they're using the same technology to pick up actual play calls coming from the sidelines? Is it possible that teams are colluding with each other to defeat the Pats? I'm not saying the Phins did anything wrong -- they may have discovered a gap in NFL rules, but still, it makes me curious.

Any information on this? Any thoughts?

Someone here mentioned that when they were sitting two rows back from the 50 yard line, they could hear all of Brady's calls. You can hear quite a few by watching the game, and bringing a little directional microphone into the stands would let you hear someone burp from 100 yards away.

There's no gap in the rules and no one is "colluding" against the Pats. Just like stealing signals in baseball, teams try to do it in the NFL. Why do you think OCs hold a sheet over their mouths when they talk into their microphones? You think they are ashamed of their teeth? They are foiling lip readers with binoculars.

The problem is not the Doofins, it is the Patriots for not adjusting. It is very easy to neutralize teams that have your signals. In the huddle, the Brady says, "I am going to change the call at the line to indicate max protect to the left. Ignore it. We will run a sweep right." So Brady makes the "audible" the defense surges one way and the runner heads off the other direction for a big gain. Do this twice and the defense will be afraid to use the stolen signals because they don't know when we are using them or when we are not.

Because so Gillette is so god-awfully quiet (although that's a good thing on offense). I'm too lazy to go back and check the tape from earlier this year, but I'm sure you could pick up Brady's calls. The ESPN/NBC games do a good job of picking up the sound too, and the Pats have played 3 of those this year.
