Signs pointing against Tim Tebow - AFC West Blog - ESPN

This is very odd considering Denver was looking to trade Kyle Orton very recently, but if Tebow doesnt see much playing time this season I wonder if we could get him for a rather low price. Next season Hoyer might be gone, if so it makes sense to have a 3rd, developmental QB waiting in the wings. There's no place better to learn to play QB than in New England, Tebow can be a potential heir or more likely trade bait to a QB hungry team down the road.

Go Kyle Orton!

Kyle Orton is a far better QB than Tim Tebow in the NFL. I'm not sure what in the hell McDaniels was thinking when he drafted him.

Orton to Lloyd has been spectacular.

uh....no......Mallett is a far better QB for the Pats then Tebow will ever be. Love the guys attitude and intangibles.....but if we have extra snaps to use, let it be Mallett.

Orton to Lloyd has been spectacular.

Agreed, McDaniels has been awful at judging talent and personnel decisions.

We want to get him for a good price because he's a failure?

I agree 100% that priority would be given to Mallett, he has a MUCH higher liklihood of success, but still, if I could grab Tebow for a 6th or 7th round pick I think it'd make sense to see if any spaghetti would stick to the wall.

No We have Te's and Rb and a developmental/backup qb no spot for Tebow. great college player not an NFL talent esp at QB. perhaps H Back somewhere. we already have his teammate from Fl Hernandez for that role.

1 - Just because someone "fails" in one place doesnt mean they can't succeed in another. Vrabel is a perfect example of this.

2 - Just because a player, in arguably THE most difficult position in football, has a crappy first year doesnt mean they can't develop later on.

3 - One doent get value by always buying at retail, the real profit is made when you can get something for very little, fix it up, and then sell it to others for retail. Matt Cassel is a great example of this, though I still think we could have done a wee bit better than we did. Taking a 7th round pick, getting a very solid season from him, and then trading him for a high 2nd round pick was an EPIC WIN.

Another thread destined for the practice squad. Gawd, the season cannot get here fast enough.

McDaniels has a terrible track record as a personnel guy. He let Hillis go among MANY other talented players, wasted a draft pick trading for Maroney, not to mention those terrible draft picks from 2005-2008 that were offensive players he worked out.

After all of the bizarre speculation about BB wanting Tebow last year, he turned around and drafted a QB who's Tebow's exact opposite. Mallett can't run a bit, is built more like a punter than a tight end, has questionable leadership skills and some character question marks...but can read defenses, has a quick release, throws a catchable ball, and can make just about every throw known to football-kind with accuracy.

Anyway, so now Denver has a pretty good starting QB who they've tried to get rid of, and a backup who they've tried to hand the keys of the kingdom to but who is looking inept. That always makes for a cozy locker room.

Hmmmm ....

(a) Move this thread to the NFL Forum?

(b) Merge it with the "Let's Sign This Guy Thread"?

(c) Send it to the Practice Squad?

(d) Let it stay here for Amusement Purposes Only?

I think I'm going to choose option D and see what happens.

I dont think Tebow has the talent to play in the NFL. His arm is not very strong, he has a slow release, and isn't really all that accurate. As nice as a guy he is and you know he would do whatever it takes to win, he just doesn't have the mechanics to get it done.

Why? Why would we want Tebow? There''s absolutely no reason to think he'll be a good QB, and at this point, its probably a little late to be thinking about turning him into something else.

I hate this thread.

And the Jets.

I wonder where he got those bad evaluating skills from?......just saying'.

Let me add that really think a lot of our good fortune in the draft as of late is because of Floyd Reese....

well...we get Tebow..and then we get Herve Villechaize and get him to change his pronunciation of D to T...the result?...Tebow in a smart tuxedo, waving to the crowd at the Razor as Herve cries out pointing to the sky "Boss!! Boss! Te plane!!! Te Plane!!"..

Certainly Reese and Caserio show they add value by the great drafts from 2009-2011. But it is certainly also very interesting that the Pats drafted well from 2001-2004, then didn't draft too well for several years, and this coincided with McDaniels working out players the Pats drafted, then proving without a doubt in Denver he has no clue spotting talent. I think the past 10 years is just more validation that not only is Belichick the man and the key piece behind the machine, but that he is NOT a dictator and that he is still dependent on quality people around him giving him input, which he listens to and acts upon their judgments.

If the rumors are true, he traded Hillis because Hillis was macking on JMcD's wife.

Orton, an experienced veteran, is doing well. The new regime has no loyalty to Tebow. It's not a shock that Orton is the #1 QB at this point, since he wasn't traded. It would have been a shock if he weren't.

Given the way its schedule falls, Denver will need to win early or it will be out of the race in a hurry this year, and Tebow will take over.
