Hey all, just want to direct you over to PatsCast, which is where you can currently find PatsCast and subscribe to us on iTunes. For those of you who listened to us last year, you know what the expect. The big change this year, if you can call it that, is that Jay has joined the team, and will be on just about all of the podcasts, it looks like. We're psyched to get him involved on a more permanent basis, since podcasting with him has always been a lot of fun, not to mention that his contributions have pretty consistently been our most popular.

Anyways, we have two podcasts up now- the first one was recorded on Friday, in the wake of Ty Warren's release, so it might already be a little dated. Episode two, however, was recorded earlier this evening, and mostly revolves around Jay and I's perspective on what a change in defensive scheme might mean for the Pats this year. FWIW, I think it's a really informative 45 minutes (I certainly learned a bunch), and I hope you like it!

Glad to have the podcasts back again. I'll take a listen tomorrow. :)

I can't believe I missed the first one :ugh:

I'll be downloading both and listening on the way to and from work tomorrow :)

Highlights of this offseason:
1. Ochocinco
2. Haynesworth
3. PatsCast! :D

This is some Great Stuff:rocker:
5 Stars!

For anybody that is not familiar with the PatsCast series, I highly recommend that you give them a listen. While waiting for football games to go underway you can also go back and listen to some of the older broadcasts as well; there's a ton of very insightful analysis that will surely help raise your Football IQ.

Listened to the first 30 or so minutes on the way to work this morning. Great listening for the carride. Will listen to more on the way home and tonight for sure.

Highly recommended.

Interesting....

I'll check it out!

By the way, I should note that the second episode (with Jay) is a whole lot better than the first one (without him), which is why we didn't promote the site at all until the second one came out. Episode 2 is much closer to what we'll be putting out on semiweekly basis, content and structure-wise.

This is awesome. I'm listening for the first time and it's great. Great info and insight.

My only little complain would be sometimes I want to re listen to a comment that I might have misheard and when trying to go back I end up going far too much. Is there anyway to see exactly where you are on a time line?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion! That's a good question, I'll see if it's something that I can fix in the site settings- at the very least, I know that I can switch out the current audio player for another one. In the mean time, though, listening through iTunes or downloading it and listening through your media player of choice should give you finer control over timing.

Your humility offends me. By a whole lot better I assume you mean phallic Freudian puns, speaker blow out laughs, and the meandering non-sensical rants of a crazy person?

The stength of the unit bit was quite hilarious. "Hey rookie, come here"

Anybody listen to this on the way to work today? Thoughts and suggestions for the end of week one?

Yeah, it was a perfect Andy Hart moment. ;) BTW Jay I think you are right on the money. I think all the 4-3 talk is less about the alignment and more about the scheme Flexibility BB now has because of who he has in the secondary, NOT who he has on the DL.

If you go back into the "way back machine" to the 1970's. Haynesworth could give the Pats the ability to use some of the old Steeler DL concepts, with Haynesworth playing the Joe Greene role, while the rest of the team can use their fundamental 2 gap techniques on early down. So I don't see the "so called switch as been THAT radical. More like its taking advantage of the skill sets of the players you have on the roster.

But while everyone is focusing on DL and LB acquisitions, its what we have done with the secondary over the last 3 years is REALLY "the straw that is stirring this drink".

Besides more inadvertent sexual euphemisms, as a discussion item for next time, I'd like to hear a discussion about who we can/should pick up in free agency and trades. If no one else is necessary, then why? Also, are there any players that we could foresee cuts due to defensive/offensive changes? Obviously it's early, but we all love speculation.

Other ideas off the top of my head?? I like how you guys sometimes refer to the board's threads and our discussions on here. It ties things together nicely. I don't know if there are any other ways to further tie-in the board to the show but it helps present a nice coherent package of content.

Just a quick heads up, everyone: we recorded a podcast this morning that's currently in post-production. It's a short one, a little over 20 minutes long, that's mostly discussing a) how to watch line play (and what to watch for) and b) things to look for tonight. If you have 20 minutes to spare before the game, I'd recommend giving it a listen. Of course, I might be just a little biased. it'll be up on PatsCast.net in the next couple of hour- I'll post to notify when.

Also, tonight will be the first iteration of our weekly Patriots drinking game. The theme for this one will be "whenever a scrub looks like an all-pro", since that seems to be what preseason games are about. We'll be doing the whole thing through twitter, so if you wnt to follow us @PatsCast, there's that. Also, if you want to join in, just use the hashtag #billboozichick ...

It's up now on PatsCast.net. Apologies in advance for the audio levels; we have a whole new mic setup, and I clearly didn't do a good job with consistent volume on mine. We fixed it as much as we could in post-production, but in the future I just have to keep in mind that you practically have to place these mics on your mouth. Not at all like the ones we used last year, but they picked up too much outside noise, so once we get this down it should sound a lot better.

Great work guys, I really enjoyed listening and learning about the the nitty/gritty stuff about schemes and X's and O's stuff especially about the offensive line and when you talked about the defense.

It's like actual football talk. I'm so used to listening to people talk about general stuff so it's really refreshing to hear you get into specifics and in detail.
