Chadiha: Brady called out Moss' lack of effort

Take it for what it's worth...Chadiha clearly is not Moss' biggest fan:

As it turned out, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was one of the first to notice his decline last summer. A league source said Brady was so concerned about Moss' lagging work ethic that he discussed it with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick in training camp. When Belichick decided that Moss would be fine, Brady became even more agitated after Moss dogged it on a couple routes during an early-season win over Miami.

According to the source, Brady told Belichick during that contest that the team could keep Moss but the receiver wasn't going to be seeing any passes again. Moss was working in Minnesota within days of that conversation.

I don't know that I buy the Brady vs. Belichick part of the story -- sounds like one of Chris Carter's "anecdotes"!

It's not outside of the realm of what most of us observed. It would have been amazing to think what Randy Moss could have accomplished had he had the mental strength of say a Tedy Bruschi.

I don't believe for one minute that the inner sanctum would have been spilling the beans about internal relations. It's the Patriots most prized commodity - secrecy. What I do believe is someone of Randy's ability (I'm an unabashed Moss homer) played on team shut it down after his emotional outburst. Kinda struck me as the "if I can't have him nobody will have him" murder suicide partner mentality.

How do douche bag reporters like him get away with speaking for everyone?

Now that he's decided to leave the game, it's doubtful anybody will actually miss him.

For those who trumpet him as a first-ballot lock, just consider the way other elite receivers have been treated by the voting process. Michael Irvin wasn't a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer, and he had three Super Bowl rings. Cris Carter and Tim Brown have caught more passes than Moss and they can't get anybody to give them a yellow jacket and a trip to Canton.

All Moss has going for him are the kind of numbers that make him seem like more than what he was.

All Moss has going for him are #s? When Moss played (i mean, really played) he makes nearly every receiver in the history of the NFL look unworthy to be on the same field as him.

I don't think Irvin or Carter's name belong in the same sentence as Moss. Can't speak for Brown as I don't know a ton about him.

Name a better deep threat in history.

How many receivers are there that you knew for a fact was only going to run maybe 3 routes and still caught 150+ touch downs? While double or triple covered.

How many seasons did he spend with HoF QB's? Look at what he did with the likes of Daunte Culpepper throwing the ball to him. First time he played with a truly good quarterback on the level of someone Jerry Rice had for his career and he breaks Jerry Rice's own record (granted, if that season was more than 12 games odds are Rice would have had more, but he didn't, and never hit that number again in a full season).

I believe Moss is a first-ballot HoFer and was a decent QB away from shattering every record Jerry Rice set. He's a one-trick pony, sure, but everyone knew that and nobody but himself could stop him.

This story rings so so true.
We all (errr....most of us) saw Moss dogging it and we saw Brady finally acknowledging the dogging by ignoring Moss and finding other receivers. Remember Mossy in tears on the sidelines in Miami last year as the Patriots are WINNING the game because Brady ignored him and looked for other guys?? Brady's man love for Moss (forcing the ball into coverage when there were other guys open) cost the Patriots victories (see Miami in '09) so when Brady started to ignore Mossy it became really obvious that Tom had finally had enough of Mossy's dog act.

No, the Patriots were not trying/planning/attempting to bring Moss back this year.
There is a difference between Randy Moss fantasy and Bill Belichick reality.

There was an incident back in 2009 where Brady called Randy out in practice as he has most of his receivers when necessary. Only in this case he had to call the player at home and apologize because it had upset him so much...or at least that was the story.

Brady or Belichick will never acknowledge issues in public. But I don't doubt there were issues. And I don't doubt that there were those who were aware of them beyond Tom and Bill... Most WR have at least a touch of the diva gene (ego) and require a certain level of management. Maintenance of which tends to fall to the QB and the OC and the HC. Moss was certainly at the upper end of the hyper sensitive scale.

Clearly Chadiha is rehashing old news. I can remember that there were rumors last year, both before and after, that Tom had called out Randy in practice. But they were just that. Rumors.

Chadiha acting like this is some "earth shattering news" is pretty laughable.

I was about to say that. If Brady was so frustrated with Moss why would BB want to bring him back? Either Carter is wrong about the 1 year contract or ESPN is wrong about Brady being frustrated. Regardless it is probably time to move on from Moss as I don't ever see him playing for the pats again.

No one makes it into the NFL without an ego. A really big ego. The thing that the successful players are able to do is control that ego.

Having said that, I have a feeling that Chadiha isn't going to be getting many interviews with the Patriots this year.

Why do people assume that BB runs a totalitarian regime. It would seem logical that the Offensive Coordinator , the WR coach, the QB coach, the GM , would all have imput regarding each and every player. Despite the aura of the Patriots Way, I'm pretty sure people don't walk the halls avoiding eye contact or conversation. Stuff gets out. Unfortunately the local media is so scared to rock the boat, gossip rarely goes mainstream.

I am sure there has been. However I have never heard Brady saying he was going to freeze players out of the offense. The bottom line is that Randy Moss has a very shot shelf life. Pats had him for 3 and 1/4 seasons which quite frankly longer than I thought he would last here.

Anyone can say anything behind a source. And as much brady has clout in this organization , his greatest strength is he follows BB's orders. So no way he went to BB and said "he can stay but he wont receive any passes". Thats a load of crap IMO. He wanted a new contract and started to create problems so BB shipped him.Thats it.
