Welker hasn't been as good since he broke his ACL and Randy Moss left. I'd rather have Davone Bess from Miami over Welker

I'm even in the "trade Welker" group, and I wouldn't say that. He's still the best slot receiver in the NFL. It's just that this offense is at its best when the offense has two TEs rather than a slot receiver.

Too many yahoos here, everyone has trade value. That value is dependant on the development of our young recievers, the cost/likelihood of him to be resigned, in other words replacement value. No one on this board knows the status BB gives the development of Price/Tate/Edleman. Certainly Branch and Edleman can both play the slot, having 3 slot recievers is a little much isnt it? He will be gone next year and resigning a over 30 WR with a knee injury isnt always good spending. If TWO of the young recievers have stepped up, if all 3 are worth a place on the 48 and someone offered a first rd pick its a no brainer-YES. I'd say his value might be a 2nd and a 3rd given this scenario. Keeping 5 recievers with this scenario you still have Ocho/Branch/Edleman/Tate/Price, keeping 6 WRs is likely to cost a valuable player at another position remember. With 3 Qbs this year we are already going to lose a player somewhere, likely keeping 5 rbs, where do you cut?? Besides Slater,LMAO! If you can trade a guy and get X value(picks) + Y value of the player not cut(who would be snatched by another team) trading a player really makes sense. If you were to trade ANY WR Welker would have to be the most likely. He has the highest value and the shortest contract right? Lots to think about, alot more to think about than keeping score in a post count.

I seriously hope you're joking.
Davone Bess with Brady throwing him the ball at this point is prb slightly better then Welker IMO. If not he's not far behind, Bess has some serious skills.

I still can't believe this thread..

I still can't believe this thread..

I think maybe some are assuming that Welker is going to demand some unreasonable payday in an extension (?) From all accounts and hints so far, that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm thinking somewhere around 6 million per is fair for both parties involved.

I also think that there's no more reason to worry about Welker's knee moving forward than there is Brady's.. Any drop in statistics last yr in likely due to the change in offensive philosophy and personnel.

Welker is still going to be the 'go-to' guy in this offense, and TFB's favorite and most reliable target. I don't see a tremendous amount of risk re-signing him to a 3 or 4 yr deal for reasonable cost. He is a huge part of this offense.

Those who want to pick up a draft pick are only going to hope that the future pick ends up being 1/2 the player that Welker is anyway.

Wow, what a difference a yr makes around here...

Welker has being great. Even last season he still was the a greatt WR. He underperformed last season cause he had a noticeable amount of dropped passes. However once he had the ball, he was the good old Wes.

Welker broke his ACL???...what's next..a guest appearance on Brokedick Mountain?

3.9% of posters think he should be traded. This question had to be asked.

That also means 96.1% of members think your poll is ******ed

Let's ban these people who voted no

I kid. :D

I'm glad you're kidding, but I don't think this is as stupid a question as most of you guys think.

If you would had asked me if the Patriots should trade Deion Branch to the Seattle Seahawks in 2006, I would say HELL NO and call the person asking an IDIOT.

If you would had asked me if the Patriots should had traded Richard Seymour, my jaw would drop in the lack of intelligence possessed to even suggest the idea.

The same goes for Vrbal & Moss and the sentiment would be the same in regards to Ty Warren being cut and allowing Vinateri being acquired by our arch-enemies.

Point is, when these things were done, I imagine that most of us didn't think they should had done that prior to it being done. But like good fans/solders, we have fallen in line AFTER the deal is done. I'm all for "IN BILL WE TRUST", but last I checked, Bill doesn't always make the popular move, but the move that he thinks makes this TEAM better in the long run.

Thank you. These people are vicious.

Don't take it that way buddy. It's just the subject matter/topic, and the fact that there have been some posters who have suggested it during the off-season, and frankly it's getting to be played out. I can't speak for everyone obviously, but I would not think that it is even remotely personal towards you.

The fact is that Welker provides a dynamic with Brady where he just KNOWS where to go, when to expect the ball, and what routes to cut off depending on the defense. You just can't replicate that in my opinion. I know that there are many who felt that the importance of Brady/Branch was incredibly vital, but personally I think that Brady/Welker blows that comparison away. I hope to everything that Welker signs on for another 3-4 yrs here, as he is a great player, and a very hard worker. You can't underestimate his worth to the whole dynamic in my opinion.

I think this offense would suffer without our go-to guy, and I don't think that Edelman could simply jump in and replicate the production of Wes. There are certain players who you just don't trade, and Wes is one of them.

I swear ppl that want to Trade welker are drunk or smoking sherm[/QUOTE said:
They must be the same people who wanted to trade TFB a few years ago...:bricks::bricks::bricks:
