I see your point, but realistically, should the Pats trade Welker now? Hell no.

What about the third option?

Let's say the Bungles (what is in the water in Cincinnati?) bring in a west-coast QB and lord knows they need a possession receiver - would you trade Welker and the Pats' #2 from the Raiders (35-40 overall) for the Bungles' #1 next year?

Then the Pats can go get whatever they want by trade or with the pick which could be Andrew Luck if Mallett does not work out.

The bottom line is that Trader Bill has unlimited options with all the picks next year and beyond so a veteran guy like Welker with some injury history (knee, concussion) - anybody, really - makes sense if the value in exchange is right.

Oh hey, I have company! I'd trade him for a second right now, no lower.

The only way Welker is traded is if they have the ****tiest team's number 1 for the next 3 years.

The question itself is kind of crap. I mean, it really depends on what we're trading him for.

The way I interpreted it was whether we should be actively shopping Wes.

But it really isn't a great poll question.

Also - now that we have Ryan Mallett should we trade Brady?

What would it take to trade Brady? Kansas City traded their #1 (18th overall) for 36-year-old Joe Montana in 1993. San Francisco had future HOF QB Steve Young ready to take the controls.

Like I said, everybody has trade value.

1 - Mario Williams would have MUCH more impact on this team than Welker.

2 - When trying to assess Welker's value to the team one must keep in mind that he'll be helping Chad get up to speed and learn the offense. Welker's contributions don't stop at his own production.

absolutely not. I know BB is a big fan of trading an asset while the buying price is high, but sometimes you need to keep players like Wes. He is too unique and too good for this offense to get rid of. Edelman might eventually take over for him, but it isn't guaranteed. And considering this looks like "the" year, I don't want to get rid of a stud like him.

Right now Ocho Cinco is an unknown player. Hopefully he steps right in and becomes a big part of the offense. But I would not think about trading Welker until Ocho Cinco proves himself.

I think of Welker in the same way I think of Troy Brown and Kevin Faulk, I want them to retire as Patriots. Right now, Welker is still a top notch slot receiver, and still one of Brady's security blankets. He will catch 85-100 balls this year with 5-10 TD's, and I think that's perfect for our slot receiver. I don't wanna see Welker go. A great Patriot.

Should the Patriots trade Welker?......Of course, and they should throw Brady in for good measure, No Good Stiffs. :singing:

At least there were a few trade advocates.

New poll:

Should patfans.com trade "TB=TD"? Bengalsfans.com is offer a poster named "OchoIsUno"

Why is everyone so high on Edelman? He aint Wes Welker.

I think they should trade him 100% A fair trade would be for Andre Johnson and Arion Foster, maybe Houston will even throw in a 3rd rounder.

Only if the Patriots get Demarcus Ware or Andre Johnson in return.

It's 140-4, against. I don't see that as a ringing endorsement for Edelman taking over.
